Job summary

City of New York P.S. 117 seeks a School Aide to support teachers and students during the school day. You will relieve teachers from non-teaching tasks, supervise students in hallways, lunchrooms and during dismissal, assist with clerical duties, and help manage classroom routines under supervision.

Qualifications include reliable attendance, ability to lift up to 10 lbs, and prior experience with students. Bilingual candidates may be considered where language needs exist.

Responsibilities

• Relieve teachers of non-teaching activities.
• supervise yard, hall, lunchroom and other monitorial duties.
• Handle, store, and distribute textbooks and supplies.
• Assist with routine clerical work.
• Maintain order in the lunchroom and assist with lunch service.
• Assist in routine school clerical tasks.
• Check reports, notes, and library lists.
• Assist with bus arrival/departure procedures.
• Greet students and supervise lunchtime routines.
• Assist with discipline and daily activities under teacher/principal orders.
