It supports staff development, fosters relationships with families and schools, and upholds safety practices across all sites as part of ongoing program excellence.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent preferred; substitutions allowed.
  • Two years related experience with children in a school age program or camp is preferred.
  • Minimum age 21 years.
  • Within 30 days: Child Abuse Prevention for Supervisory Staff; Working with Program Volunteers; CPR; First Aid; AED; Bloodborne Pathogens.
  • Within 60 days: YMCA program certifications.
  • Ability to relate to diverse groups from all social/economic segments.
  • YMCA is a public accommodation compliant with ADA.
  • Ability to travel to other locations within the program.
  • Bi-lingual is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and support program quality across assigned School Age Care locations through site visits, observations, assessments, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with YMCA standards, licensing regulations, accreditation requirements, contracts, risk management practices, and all regulations.
  • Complete site reviews, environmental safety inspections, and compliance audits; develop corrective action plans with site leadership.
  • Maintain oversight of licensing records, staff files, participant records, safety logs, training records, and regulatory docs.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor developmentally appropriate curriculum resources and activities aligned with YMCA goals.
  • Provide coaching, training, onboarding support, and professional development for Site Coordinators and staff; monitor certifications.
  • Partner with leadership on staff performance improvement, workforce development, and succession planning per YMCA policies.
  • Foster relationships with school admins, families, staff, and community partners to support operations and collaboration.
  • Support child safety, active supervision, health practices, and overall program effectiveness across locations.
  • Assess facility, equipment, and resource needs and report recommendations to maintain safe environments.
  • Assist with department meetings, staff trainings, family events, and organizational initiatives.
  • Analyze program trends and performance indicators and propose improvements.
  • Maintain knowledge of youth development best practices and YMCA standards.

Description
  • Monitor and support program quality across assigned School Age Care locations through regular site visits, observations, assessments, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with YMCA standards, licensing regulations, accreditation requirements, contractual obligations, risk management practices, and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Complete site reviews, environmental assessments, safety inspections, and compliance audits; develop and implement corrective action plans in collaboration with site leadership when needed.
  • Maintain oversight of required program documentation, including licensing records, staff files, participant records, safety logs, training records, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor curriculum resources and program activities that are developmentally appropriate, engaging, and aligned with YMCA values and program goals.
  • Provide coaching, training, onboarding support, and professional development opportunities for Site Coordinators and program staff; monitor required certifications and training compliance.
  • Partner with leadership on staff performance improvement efforts, workforce development, and succession planning consistent with YMCA policies and procedures.
  • Foster positive relationships with school administrators, families, staff, and community partners; serve as a liaison to support program operations, communication, and collaborative initiatives.
  • Support child safety, active supervision, behavior management, health practices, and overall program effectiveness across all assigned locations.
  • Evaluate facility, equipment, and resource needs and communicate recommendations to leadership to maintain safe, welcoming, and engaging program environments.
  • Assist with department meetings, staff trainings, family engagement activities, special events, and organizational initiatives.
  • Analyze program trends and performance indicators and provide recommendations that support continuous quality improvement.
  • Maintain current knowledge of youth development best practices, YMCA standards, licensing requirements, and emerging industry trends.
  • Perform other duties as assigned that support the mission and goals of the YMCA.
Requirements
  1. 1. Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent preferred; equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant professional experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
  2. 2. Two years related experience working with children preferred i.e. a school age program and/or camp
  3. 3. Minimum age requirement of 21 years of age
  4. 4. Typical requirements within 30 days of hire include completion of: Child Abuse Prevention for Supervisory Staff; Working with Program Volunteers; CPR; First Aid; AED; Bloodborne Pathogens.
  5. 5. Fulfillment of state-specific hiring standards such as fingerprinting within 30 days of hire and completion of YMCA program specific certifications within 60 days of hire
  6. 6. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of
    the community.
