Job summary

Healthy Kids Programs is hiring a School-Age Childcare Head Teacher for our Before School Program at Stafford Elementary School for the 2026–2027 year. The position is part-time, non-exempt, and located at Stafford Elementary School, Stafford Springs, CT. Pay is $20.00 per hour and follows the school calendar.

Shift runs 7:00 – 8:10 am. This role emphasizes building relationships, supporting student growth, and delivering engaging activities for ages 5–12.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Early Childhood Education or Child Development with 360 hours of supervised experience.
• CDA Credential with 1,080 hours of supervised experience in a preschool setting.
• 12 credits in ECE/Child Development with 1,080 hours supervised experience.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate activities per Healthy Kids Curriculum (fitness, STEAM, academic, art, and homework).
• Provide a safe, healthy, engaging environment and be a positive role model for children.
• Observe state guidelines, program policies, and school rules.
• Support program operations, including attendance records, registration, and staffing.

Position Responsibilities

• Observe state guidelines, Healthy Kids Extended Day Program policies, and host school policies.
• Support program operations, which may include attendance records, registration, and staffing responsibilities.

Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Candidates must meet one of the following:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Early Childhood Education or Child Development, at least 360 hours of documented, supervised experience in a family childcare home, childcare center, or group childcare home, and at least one semester of student teaching with preschool-aged children.
• Current Center-Based Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential and at least 1,080 hours of documented, supervised experience working directly with children in a legally operating childcare center serving children through preschool.
• Minimum of 12 credits in Early Childhood Education or Child Development and at least 1,080 hours of documented, supervised experience in a qualifying childcare center.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be medically cleared to perform all job duties and free of communicable diseases, including tuberculosis (TB).
• Demonstrates a warm, friendly, and positive attitude with strong interpersonal skills when working with children, parents, and team members.
• Maintains a high level of professionalism; dependable and punctual.
• Physically able to bend, stretch, lift, and carry up to 50 lbs., and actively engage in all activities required to safely supervise and keep up with children.
