North County Student Transportation (NCST) is hiring experienced field trip bus drivers to transport K–12+ passengers to field trips, after-school activities, and more across San Diego County. This role offers variety with scheduled trips and charters rather than traditional routes, and involves working with students in a family-owned operation since 1998.

Qualifications

• Valid CA School Bus Driver Certificate or SPAB Certificate.
• Minimum 3 years of professional school bus driving experience.
• Must be 21+ years old.
• Proficient in English reading and writing.
• Able to lift 20+ lbs.
• Pre-employment and random drug/alcohol testing required.
• Strong communication and punctuality.
• Basic technology skills including using a mobile app for schedules and trip assignments.

Responsibilities

• Maintain strict punctuality and adhere to all assigned route schedules.
• Complete daily vehicle pre-trip inspections and report mechanical issues.
• Communicate with dispatch to provide updates and receive instructions.
• Use a scheduling app to access schedules and assignments.
• Sweep the bus daily and keep it tidy, fueled, and ready for service.
• Interact positively with students, staff, and other passengers.
• Enforce bus safety rules and conduct expectations.
• Respond calmly to routine issues and emergencies.
• Assist with loading/unloading light cargo when necessary.

Are you an experienced, dependable school bus driver who enjoys working with students and exploring San Diego County?

North County Student Transportation (NCST) is hiring field trip bus drivers to transport K–12+ passengers to field trips, after-school sports and competitions, recreational destinations, and more. Unlike traditional school bus routes, this role offers variety, with scheduled trips and charters throughout San Diego County. No two days are exactly alike!

Family-owned and operated since 1998, we take pride in providing safe, reliable, and professional transportation to schools and organizations throughout Southern California.

SCHEDULING & SEASONAL DEMAND - Trip volume varies seasonally, with fall, spring, and grad season being the busiest periods. Summer break is generally quieter, following the school calendar. Trips are available year-round, though weekly hours may vary with demand.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Valid California School Bus Driver Certificate or SPAB Certificate
• At least three (3) full years of professional school bus driving experience transporting passengers
• Friendly, professional, and punctual, with strong communication skills and the ability to interact positively with passengers of all ages
• At least 21 years of age
• Basic technology skills, including using a mobile app for schedules and trip assignments
• Ability to meet required criminal background and driving record standards
• Must submit to required pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testing
• Proficient in English reading and writing
• Ability to lift 20+ lbs. unassisted
• New hires are subject to an initial probationary period during which punctuality, reliability, safety, and overall job performance are evaluated.

Strong professional references are highly valued.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Communicate with dispatch to provide updates, report delays, and receive instructions as needed.
• Use a mobile app to access schedules, trip assignments, and other job-related information.
  
• Sweep your bus daily and ensure it remains tidy, fueled, and ready for service.
• Interact positively and professionally with students, school staff, and other passengers.
• Consistently enforce bus safety rules and passenger conduct expectations.
• Respond calmly and professionally to routine issues and emergency situations.
• Assist with loading and unloading light cargo when necessary.
