Planner / Scheduler
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain production schedules that meet customer demand while making the best use of plant capacity and material availability
- Project raw material needs by reviewing production plans, on-hand inventory, past usage, and expected shifts in demand
- Work with Engineering, Purchasing, Operations, and other departments to make sure materials and resources are in place to support the schedule
- Verify warehouse-to-warehouse transfers in SAP to keep inventory accurate and materials available on time
- Review plant schedules and SAP MRP data to determine raw material requirements
- Run daily SAP reviews and track key metrics to spot current or upcoming material shortages, follow order status, and resolve rejected material, scrap, and rework
- Make sure the shop floor has the raw materials and components needed to hit production targets and customer ship dates
- Create and manage production work orders through the Sales & Operations Planning process as needed
- Confirm die cards and other production paperwork are complete and correct before manufacturing begins
- Oversee production backlogs across several manufacturing sites, keeping production dates current and communicating schedule changes to stakeholders
- Track production priorities and adjust schedules when customer demand, material supply, or plant constraints change
- Contribute to continuous improvement by finding ways to make scheduling, inventory control, and production planning more efficient
- Keep planning data in SAP accurate and clean to support sound production and inventory decisions
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or Supply Chain, or equivalent experience with a demonstrated track record of strong performance
- Hands-on experience with ERP/MRP systems required (SAP is a plus, but any other ERP / MRP systems will work too)
- Working understanding of how MRP (Material Requirements Planning) and ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems are structured and function
- Experience working with suppliers, freight and rail carriers, and purchasing teams, plus a solid grasp of purchasing principles and company-driven objectives
