We currently have an exciting opportunity in our Scheduling department. This position specifically is located in Norfolk, Virginia. We are looking for two candidates to fill the Scheduler 2 positions. The work schedule is the 1st shift Monday – Friday, 0700 - 1545.

The Scheduler 3 is responsible for producing critical path resource loaded production schedules, as well as integration of NASSCO’s production schedule with Assist Integration Teams (AIT) and Subcontractors. The Scheduler 3 will also develop and provide production reports to the management team.
Typically has a BA/BS in a related field plus two (2) years directly related experience, or AA/AS plus four (4) years’ directly related experience, or eight (8) years’ directly related experience. Directly related experience in project management, production management preferred.

The Scheduler 3 reports to the Engineering & Scheduling Manager for administrative and operational matters. The position maintains internal contacts with various departments including, Estimating, Engineering, Contracts, Supply Chain, Production Management, Trade supervision and Business Development. External contacts include Subcontractors and NASSCO Customers. This position has no direct reports.
Able to perform duties as lead scheduler for a CNO availability with no guidance, may be asked to lead more than one CNO availability.
Review project contract documents and drawings to determine project scope and schedule development.
Able to generate schedule related proposal documents.
Organize scope into major categories to outline deliverables and milestones.
Sequence major work priorities into a logical schedule.
Determine critical paths that anchor the overall project completion date.
Modify critical paths based on prevailing conditions.
Creates Work Breakdown Structure for all new work orders.
Understands the work specification.
Understands drawings.
Understands and troubleshoots all Scheduling programs and deliverables.
Trains Schedulers on processes and products as related to Scheduling department for growth.
Determines work flow, with Trade support.
Initially schedules all projects prior to the project being definitized with the customer.
Performs initial and final resourcing (assigning shops) as the project is scheduled. Uses estimates to assign hours to activities.
Attends the schedule review held with Production, Trade, and Estimating personnel.
Reports progress of scheduling as the project is being built.
Able to recognize company-needs and offer solutions based on expierence gained.
Performs all scheduler principal responsibilities
Accountable to the Engineering & Scheduling Manager for accurate and timely schedules.
Must be willing to travel and have reliable transportation. Must be a U.S. citizen and qualify for a Common Access Card (CAC) and a security clearance. Must have reliable record of attendance and punctuality and be available for overtime as required. Must be able to physically transit all areas of the facility. Regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects or controls, and to talk and hear. Must have good eye/hand coordination. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Must be familiar with working in a naval-ship-work-environment and be able to go aboard marine vessels and the drydock, climb ladders, work in tanks and confined spaces, and wear personal protective equipment. These areas can be dirty, dusty, hot or cold, and noisy.
