Job summary

TAIT seeks a Scenic Artist I to create high finish, one‑of‑a‑kind 2D/3D elements for touring and themed environments. You’ll translate client designs from production and design teams into art pieces, temporary or permanent, collaborating closely with other artists to ensure on‑time delivery.

Ideal candidates bring foundational painting/sculpting skills, color theory knowledge, and the ability to read elevations and technical drawings. Willingness to learn and grow is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Fine Arts or Bachelor of Arts degree, or 2 years’ experience in scenic art, sculpture, props, or related arts field.
• Ladder and scissor lift training certification required, will train as needed.
• Foundational knowledge in traditional paint and sculpting techniques.
• Understanding of color theory and color mixing.
• Experience using hand and power tools.
• Ability to read elevations and technical drawings.

Responsibilities

• Create high finish, one-of-a-kind two- or three-dimensional visual elements for touring, theme parks, and other markets.
• Interpret design packets with guidance from the lead artist.
• Assist with prototyping new processes and materials.
• Ensure consistent treatment across large scenic elements by adapting styles as needed.
• Maintain clear interdepartmental communication and meet deadlines.
• Adhere to safety policies and maintain a clean, organized workspace.
