Job summary

TIC - The Industrial Company in Houston is seeking entry-level helpers to support skilled craftsmen on outdoor construction sites. The role focuses on learning to read blueprints, prepare materials, and set up scaffolds under direct supervision.

You will work outdoors in various weather, climb heights up to 200 ft, and perform rigging and manual labor as part of a team. A high school diploma and reliable, safety-first mindset are required to start in this hands-on role.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; prior field experience preferred.
• Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
• Field experience in the craft discipline; knowledge of safe tool use.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints to determine scope, locations, quantities and material sizes.
• Identify tools required and cut materials to specification.
• Assist skilled craftspersons to erect and disassemble scaffolding and install ladders, handrails, walkways and platforms.
• Assist with building and dismantling pre-constructed scaffolds.
• Assist with constructing wooden scaffolds and auxiliary items.
• Perform rigging of equipment loads.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

• Learn to read blueprints and specification to determine the scope of work: locations, quantities, and sizes of materials required.
• Learn to identify all tools required for tasks and measure, mark, and cut required wooden/metallic materials to required specifications.
• Assist skilled craftsman to erect and disassemble scaffolding for buildings and other structures and installs ladders, handrails, walkways, platforms, and gangways.
• Assist with construction, re-enforcement, and dismantling pre-constructed scaffolds.
• Assist with buildin and constructing wooden Scaffolds and auxiliary items.
• Perform work involving rigging of equipment loads.

Qualifications

• May require a high school diploma or its equivalent with previous years of experience in the field or in a related area.
• Must possess knowledge skills and abilities for position
• Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with management/supervision
• Field experience in chosen craft discipline
• Knowledge of the safe and efficient use of hand tools, power tools and layout tools.

Requirements

• Able to meet all physical requirements.
• Must have all required tools
• Expected to climb and work at heights and in confined spaces (may exceed 200 ft)
• Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Able to work overtime, nights, and weekends as required by the workload
• Observe and comply with all safety and project rules. Performs other duties as required.
