Job summary

Brown & Root Industrial Services in Louisiana seeks a Leadman to provide leadership, instruction, and guidance to craft workers, assisting the Foreman while functioning as a journeyman.

Responsibilities include building and dismantling wooden structures, interpreting sketches, and ensuring safety and compliance on site. A strong carpentry background and ability to lead teams are essential.

Qualifications

  • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent with related experience.
  • Familiar with concepts, practices, and procedures in the field.
  • Follows instructions and pre-established guidelines; supervisor directs work.

Responsibilities

  • Examine, select, and gather materials and tools.
  • Review blueprints to determine dimensions.
  • Inspect base surface for obstructions.
  • Load, transport, and unload materials.
  • Measure and mark cutting lines with accuracy.
  • Cut boards and plywood to required sizes.
  • Use carpentry hand tools and power tools as directed.
  • Assemble scaffolding per specifications, includes rails and planks.
  • Brace forms in place for concrete piers and walls.
  • Secure scaffolding to structures and erect ladders and walkways.
  • Rig materials as needed; perform maintenance on tools.

Job Description

Leadman - Provides leadership, instruction, and guidance to other craft workers in work crew, providing assistance to Foreman, while working in the capacity of a journeyman.

SUMMARY

Builds, positions, and dismantles wooden structures, such as concrete forms, scaffolds, tunnel and sewer supports, and temporary frame shelters, according to sketches, blueprints, or company standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Examines, selects and gathers materials and tools.
  • Examines blue prints and specifications to determine dimensions of structure.
  • Inspect base surface for obstructions.
  • Loads, transports and unloads material.
  • Measures boards, timbers, or plywood, using square, measuring tape, and ruler, and marks cutting lines on materials using pencil and scriber.
  • Saws boards and plywood panels to required sizes.
  • Uses carpentry hand tools such as hammers, levels, squares, screw drivers, adjustable wrenches, hand and power saws, drill motors and pry bars.
  • Assembles scaffold containing handrails, mid rails, braces and planks, toe boards, screening, locking pins and wheels to job specifications.
  • Braces forms in place with timbers, tie rods, and anchor bolts for use in building concrete piers, footings, and walls.
  • Secures scaffolding to permanent structure by tying.
  • Erects scaffolding for buildings and other structures and installs ladders, handrails,walkways, platforms, and gangways.
  • Sets and braces anchor bolts.
  • May rig materials.
  • Perform minor maintenance or cleaning activities on tolls and equipment.
  • Responsible for observing and complying with all safety and project rules. Performs other duties as required.
