Job summary

TIC - The Industrial Company is seeking workers to perform scaffold erection and dismantling, operate heavy equipment, and rig loads on construction projects. The role requires reading blueprints, assembling and dismantling scaffolds, and using hand and power tools in variable outdoor conditions.

Candidates should be able to stand and move on a busy site, work irregular hours, and pass safety rules and drug testing. Experience in construction environments and strong communication are preferred.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or equivalent with prior field experience.
• Must possess basic working knowledge and abilities for the position.
• Ability to understand, follow and convey written and oral instructions to leadership.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints and specs to determine scope, locations, quantities and materials.
• Identify tools required and measure, mark, and cut materials to spec.
• Erect and dismantle scaffolding for buildings and other structures; install ladders, rails, walkways, platforms and gangways.
• Construct, reinforce and dismantle pre-constructed scaffolds.
• Build scaffolds and auxiliary items from wood.
• Perform rigging of equipment loads.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

• Read blueprints and specification to determine the scope of work: locations, quantities, and sizes of materials required.
• Identify all tools required for tasks and measure, mark, and cut required wooden/metallic materials to required specifications.
• Erect and disassemble scaffolding for buildings and other structures and installs ladders, handrails, walkways, platforms, and gangways.
• Construct, re-enforce, and dismantle pre-constructed Scaffolds.
• Build and construct wooden Scaffolds and auxiliary items.
• Perform work involving rigging of equipment loads.

Qualifications

• May require a high school diploma or its equivalent with previous years of experience in the field or in a related area.
• Must possess working knowledge skills and abilities for position.
• Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with management/supervision.
• Ability to use hand tools, power tools and layout tools safe and efficiently.

Requirements

The person in this position needs to constantly move about a construction/industrial site, so should be able to stand, walk, sit, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl

• Constantly works in a construction environment and will be exposed to changing outdoor weather conditions.
• Work irregular hours, weekends, overtime and holidays as required.
• May be required to use ladders/mechanical platforms/manlifts/scaffold to access required equipment/work areas (may exceed 200 feet), so must be able to climb and maintain balance on formwork, steel formwork, stairs, ladders and scaffolds.
• Move and work in and around confined and cluttered places, and uneven surfaces.
• Must be able to complete tasks in a noisy and dusty environment.
• May be required/able to move items weighing up to 50 pounds across.
• Must have required tools.
• Observe and comply with all safety and project rules, perform other duties as required.
• Ability to pass pre-access drug and alcohol testing.
