Brown & Root Industrial Services in South Carolina is seeking a skilled carpenter for a long-term maintenance role. You will build, position, and dismantle wooden structures, read blueprints, and assemble scaffolding to exact project specifications.

Typical schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00AM to 3:30PM, with a strong emphasis on safety and quality. A high school diploma or related experience is preferred, and the candidate should be comfortable working at heights.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required or with related experience.
• Knowledge of carpentry practices, safety rules and general construction procedures.
• Ability to read blueprints and specifications and plan work accordingly.
• Willingness to work at heights and follow project safety rules.

Responsibilities

• Examine, select and gather materials and tools.
• Read blueprints to determine dimensions of structures.
• Inspect base surface for obstructions and prepare site.
• Load, transport and unload materials.
• Measure, mark and cut timber and plywood to required sizes.
• Operate hand and power tools safely.
• Assemble scaffolding and secure to structures.
• Brace forms for concrete piers, footings and walls.
• Install ladders, handrails, platforms and walkways.
• Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of tools and equipment.
• Follow safety and project rules at all times.

Long Term Maintenance No Per Diem

Work Hours Monday - Friday 7:00AM - 3:30PM

Must pass pre-employment background and physical

Builds, positions, and dismantles wooden structures, such as concrete forms, scaffolds, tunnel and sewer supports, and temporary frame shelters, according to sketches, blueprints, or company standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Examines, selects and gathers materials and tools.
• Examines blue prints and specifications to determine dimensions of structure.
• Inspect base surface for obstructions.
• Loads, transports and unloads material.
• Measures boards, timbers, or plywood, using square, measuring tape, and ruler, and marks cutting lines on materials using pencil and scriber.
• Saws boards and plywood panels to required sizes.
• Uses carpentry hand tools such as hammers, levels, squares, screw drivers, adjustable wrenches, hand and power saws, drill motors and pry bars.
• Assembles scaffold containing handrails, mid rails, braces and planks, toe boards, screening, locking pins and wheels to job specifications.
• Braces forms in place with timbers, tie rods, and anchor bolts for use in building concrete piers, footings, and walls.
• Secures scaffolding to permanent structure by tying.
• Erects scaffolding for buildings and other structures and installs ladders, handrails, walkways, platforms, and gangways.
• Sets and braces anchor bolts.
• May rig materials.
• Performs minor maintenance or cleaning activities on tolls and equipment.
• Responsible for observing and complying with all safety and project rules. Performs other duties as required

Works under immediate supervision. Primary job functions do not typically require exercising independent judgment. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.
