Job summary

Brown & Root Industrial Services is seeking a Journeyman NCCER Scaffold Builder to lead and guide other craft workers, assisting the foreman while fulfilling journeyman duties. You will build, position, and dismantle scaffolds per blueprints and standards, ensuring safety and compliance on site.

The role emphasizes reading specifications, selecting materials, and erecting scaffolding structures with proper fall protection and access.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or its equivalent may be required.
  • Experience in scaffolding or related construction fields.
  • Ability to read blueprints and take exact measurements.
  • Ability to work at heights and follow safety rules.

Responsibilities

  • Examine, select, and gather materials and tools.
  • Examine blueprints and specifications to determine dimensions.
  • Inspect base surface for obstructions.
  • Load, transport, and unload materials.
  • Measure and mark cutting lines on materials.
  • Saw boards and plywood to required sizes.
  • Use carpentry hand tools (hammers, levels, squares, screwdrivers, wrenches, saws, drills).
  • Assemble scaffolds with handrails, braces, planks, toe boards, and wheels per specs.
  • Brace forms in place for concrete piers, footings, and walls.
  • Secure scaffolding to structures.
  • Erect scaffolding and install ladders, walkways, and platforms.
  • Set and brace anchor bolts.
  • Rig materials where needed.
  • Perform maintenance or cleaning on tools and equipment.
  • Observe and comply with safety and project rules.

Journeyman NCCER Scaffold Builder - Provides leadership, instruction, and guidance to other craft workers in work crew, providing assistance to Foreman, while working in the capacity of a journeyman.

SUMMARY

Builds, positions, and dismantles structures such as scaffolds and temporary frame shelters, according to sketches, blueprints, or company standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Examines, selects and gathers materials and tools.
  • Examines blue prints and specifications to determine dimensions of structure.
  • Inspect base surface for obstructions.
  • Loads, transports and unloads material.
  • Measures boards, timbers, or plywood, using square, measuring tape, and ruler, and marks cutting lines on materials using pencil and scriber.
  • Saws boards and plywood panels to required sizes.
  • Uses carpentry hand tools such as hammers, levels, squares, screw drivers, adjustable wrenches, hand and power saws, drill motors and pry bars.
  • Assembles scaffold containing handrails, mid rails, braces and planks, toe boards, screening, locking pins and wheels to job specifications.
  • Braces forms in place with timbers, tie rods, and anchor bolts for use in building concrete piers, footings, and walls.
  • Secures scaffolding to permanent structure by tying.
  • Erects scaffolding for buildings and other structures and installs ladders, handrails,
    walkways, platforms, and gangways.
  • Sets and braces anchor bolts.
  • May rig materials.
  • Performs minor maintenance or cleaning activities on tolls and equipment.
  • Responsible for observing and complying with all safety and project rules. Performs other duties as required.

Works under immediate supervision. Primary job functions do not typically require exercising independent judgment. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.
