Job summary

SOLV Energy, a leading provider of infrastructure services to the power industry, seeks an SCADA engineer to design, develop, and deliver SCADA integration components for renewable energy projects. The role offers hybrid or remote work with regular in-office presence in San Diego, CA or Bend, OR, with location discussions at interview.

You will program SCADA servers, data historians, and HMI systems, review project documentation, and coordinate with field technicians.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of SCADA engineering experience in renewable energy projects.
• Proficiency with Python programming.
• Intermediate Ignition SCADA platform knowledge.
• Familiar with relational databases and SCADA applications.
• Knowledge of PLC equipment including Schweitzer RTAC, Allen-Bradley, GE/Emerson RX3i.
• Experience installing and commissioning SCADA networks (Fiber, RS-232/RS-485, Ethernet).
• Knowledge of industrial protocols (Modbus RTU/TCP, DNP3, OPC UA/DA).
• Ability to read and develop electrical, mechanical and civil diagrams.
• Strong communication and ability to work with subcontractors and field personnel.
• Experience with project management, scheduling and task management tools.

Responsibilities

• Execute the design and development of SCADA integration components and systems for utility scale renewable energy projects including Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage Systems
• Work within a team to define and implement product design standards and best practices aligned with company goals
• Review and implement project-specific requirements for assigned scope
• Generate device points lists, HMI mockups, assets, commissioning test plans and checklists using company standards
• Program and commission SCADA servers, data historians, and HMI systems
• Review closeout documentation to verify all contractual deliverables are met
• Provide intermediate level technical support for diverse SCADA configurations
• Participate in technical discussions with customers and partners
• Assist with maintaining a centralized knowledge base
• Apply diagnostic utilities to troubleshoot complex plant monitoring and control systems
• Coordinate with customers and field technicians for on-site commissioning and installation support
• Identify and learn appropriate software and hardware used by the organization
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support platform development and data integration
• Provide project status reports and support risk mitigation to meet goals
• Promote and adhere to a culture of NERC compliance and governance in programming and commissioning
• Support SOLV Operations center for project integrations and handoffs

Provide Engineering level support in the design, development and Delivery of the SOLV SCADA solution and EPC projects.

Position Responsibilities and Duties:

• Apply diagnostic utilities to aid in troubleshooting of complex plant monitoring and control systems.

Minimum Skills or Experience Requirements:

• 2 - 4 years of SCADA engineering experience (experience working within renewable energyincluding;industrial or utility scale PV solar, BESS,or Winddesired).Proficiency with programming languages including Python.
• Intermediateworking knowledgeof Inductive Automation’s Ignition SCADA platform.
• Intermediateworking knowledgeof relational databases, and SCADA applications.
• Familiarity with industry recognized PLC equipment including but not limited to Schweitzer Engineering RTAC Platform, Allen Bradley Control / CompactLogix platform, GE / Emerson RX3i, or similar “named variable” PLC environments.
• Familiar with the installation and commissioning of SCADA networks using; Fiber Optics, Serial RS-232 / RS-485, and Ethernet TCP/IP.
• Strong knowledge of industrial automation protocols including but not limited to; Modbus RTU/TCP, DNP3, OPC UA and DA.
• Proficiency in reading and developing diagrams and schematics including but not limited to, power system, networking and control, electrical, mechanical and civil layouts.
• Ability to work with sub-contractors and field personnel.
• Proficiency with various project management, scheduling, and task management tools.
• Excellent Communication Skills.
