Job summary

SAIC in Crane, IN is seeking an Engineering Tech IV to provide drafting and documentation support for NSWC Crane. The role requires Creo and SolidWorks proficiency, Windchill, and the ability to work with engineers, drafters and technicians to produce and update Technical Data Packages.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in a related discipline with 2+ years of relevant experience, or a high school diploma with 5+ years in drafting/design.

  • Knowledge of ASME and MIL-STD drawing standards and ISO procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Create and modify detailed CAD models and drawings using Creo and other CAD tools.
  • Collaborate with customers, engineers, technicians and other CAD operators to capture design data.
  • Work independently and in teams to implement design changes and document updates.
  • Delegate tasks while maintaining quick decision making under pressure.
  • Manage configuration and documentation to ensure quick and orderly task completion.
  • Utilize measurement tools (calipers, gauges, tape) for design verification.

Description

SAIC is currently seeking an Engineering Tech IV to provide drafting and documentation support for NSWC Crane. In this role, you will work closely with engineers, drafters and technicians, contributing to the creation and updating of Technical Data Packages. The position requires experience with Creo and SolidWorks 3D parametric software, as well as Windchill, or a willingness to quickly learn these tools. Success in this role depends on technical proficiency and the ability to understand and efficiently execute relevant processes and procedures. Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
  • Creates and modifies detailed models and drawings using Creo and occasional other forms of CAD Software.
  • Works closely with the Customer, Engineers, Technicians and other CAD Operators to capture design, revise existing documentation and attend meetings.
  • Works independently as well as in a collective team effort to effect changes to design and/or documentation
  • Able to delegate tasking and advice to other team members while maintaining quick decision making under pressure.
  • Able to keep Configuration Management of the tasking, files and correspondence as required to complete the task in a quick and orderly fashion.
  • Performs a variety of moderate and complex tasks and have the ability to use a variety of tools to include, but not limited to, Calipers, Gauges, Tape Measure, Ruler and other mechanical devices to aid in design development and verification/validation of first article pieces.
Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Associate degree in a related discipline with a minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience, or a high School Diploma and minimum five (5) years of experience with Drafting Design, Electrical and Mechanical.
  • Experience in 3D CAD software while using a PDM configuration system.
  • Hands-on mechanical/electro-mechanical knowledge and aptitude with understanding of currently accepted manufacturing processes and ISO procedures required.
  • Must be detail oriented and able to communicate complex ideas.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain a Secret clearance; not needed to start.
  • Ability to quickly complete tasking independently and as a team member, with detailed or general instructions.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the following drawing standards (ASME-Y14.100, MIL-STD-31000)
  • Knowledge and understanding of basic and advanced CAD procedures and how to properly apply them on demand including, but not limited to, formatting, layout, proper expression of Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
  • Understanding of Military standards and specifications.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Creo software is highly desirable
  • Proficiency in collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams to integrate mechanical and electrical system designs
  • Demonstrated ability to recreate complex original equipment manufacturer (OEM) drawings in the absence of native files
