Job description

Primary Office Location: 401 South Graham Street, Charlotte, North Carolina 28202.

Position Title: SBA Business Development Officer 2

Business Unit: Commercial Banking

Reports to: SBA Senior Sales Manager

Overview

Responsible for generating $6-12MM of loan volume and $450k of revenue using SBA loan products. Requires continuous marketing to develop and maintain a large base of referral sources. Develops effective processes to identify eligible opportunities, win the deals, develop and submit complete application packages to Credit. Works closely with Credit partners to get loans approved and closely with Closing Partners to get loans closed, in a timely manner. Requires full understanding of SBF Credit Policies and Processes, SBF Closing Processes, and working knowledge of SBA SOP.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Actively markets using all available resources to develop and grow a network of external and internal referral sources. Target of at least 1,000 referral sources in the database for email, LinkedIn, and other marketing.
  • Hold regular meetings with primary referral sources, conduct sales meetings, and actively participate in 2-3 business-related groups in the market.
  • Read and interpret tax returns, financial statements, business plans and other information to determine if eligible opportunities meet or exceed SBF credit standards. Structure financing options that meet borrower needs, win approval by borrowers, issue the proposal, obtain deposit, and initiate the full application process.
  • Collect all information and documents on Credit Submission Checklist. Organize information within nCino and other systems, and complete the BDO Loan Summary. Consult with Credit Partners during the application process. Process submission to Credit through nCino. Work with Credit Partner to reach a credit decision, review and deliver Commitment to borrower, and return to credit with required deposit.
  • Communicate effectively with internal partners, borrowers and referral sources throughout the loan process to maintain transparency and manage expectations. Deliver Preliminary Closing Checklist to borrower during the credit process to have items needed for closing in hand at time of approval.
  • Participate in internal handoff calls with closing and all-call with closer, borrower, and attorneys. Ensure third-party reports are ordered in a timely manner. Review all nCino reports and weekly Closing Checklist updates to stay abreast of progress and assist the borrower in obtaining closing items for the closer. Assist in getting loans closed to achieve goals.
  • Attend and actively participate in all sales meetings, trainings, weekly pipeline calls, and weekly one-on-one calls with management. Stay current on changes to SOP, SBA Information Notices, and SBF Credit Policies. Accurately maintain loan pipeline information in nCino. Provide all management reports as required.
  • Performs other related duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications

  • Skills Required to Perform the Primary Responsibilities of this Position: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; excellent organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills; detail-oriented; ability to work and multi-task in a fast-paced environment; ability to use a personal computer and job-related software; excellent project management skills; MS Excel - Intermediate; MS Word - Intermediate; Bachelors or a combination of education and equivalent experience may be considered; experience in banking-related external sales and SBA preferred; must be self-disciplined in time management and work habits, able to work effectively without supervision to achieve assigned goals.
  • Licensures/Certifications Required to Perform the Primary Responsibilities of this Position: Valid Driver's License
