Hood Industries, Inc. in Waynesboro, MS is seeking a Sawmill Relief Operator to learn and operate multiple sawmill machines. The role covers cross-training for vacation and absence coverage while emphasizing safety and efficiency.

Responsibilities include operating equipment such as sorter, trimmer, edger, curve saw, debarker, stacker and head rig, maintaining a clean work area, and communicating with other departments to resolve production issues. High school diploma or GED preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to understand and follow safety rules.
• Experience in sawmill, manufacturing, or industrial setting preferred.
• Willingness to work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Cross-train on production and mobile equipment to cover vacations/absences.
• Promote a safe work environment by adhering to safety guidelines and procedures.
• Learn and perform multiple operator functions within the sawmill to achieve performance targets.
• Apply work processes to increase productivity and reduce waste of usable products.
• Communicate with other departments and management to report problems affecting production.
• Maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe work area.
• Operate sawmill equipment such as Sorter, Trimmer, Edger, Curve Saw, Debarker, Stacker, and Head Rig.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
