Gutchess Lumber Co., Inc. in Freedom, NY is hiring Entry-Level Machine Center Operators for 1st and 2nd shift. You will handle lumber safely in a sawmill environment and perform physical labor with training on various machines. This is a hands-on role with focus on accuracy, safety, and teamwork.

We offer health insurance and a competitive hourly pay range of $16.00–$24.00, with weekends as needed and 8-hour shifts. Candidates must be 18+, able to lift 50+ lbs, and commit to reliable attendance.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Effective written and verbal communication.
• Able and willing to work long hours, weekends; good attendance.
• Willing to cross-train in various positions and work as part of a team.
• Able to lift 50+ lbs.

Responsibilities

• Straightens lumber on conveyor to align lumber for grading, sawing, edging, trimming, sorting, stacking, or for transfer to other conveyors;
• Shovel bark and chips and cleans work area, using broom and shovel. Make sure work area is clean of banding and boards before leaving every day;
• Learn to operate various machinery and complete preventative maintenance as scheduled on assigned equipment;
• Some climbing and crawling may be involved associated with housekeeping;
