Northwest Hardwoods, Inc. is seeking a Saw Filer Trainee for our Dorchester, WI facility. This entry-level role focuses on learning to inspect, maintain, sharpen, repair, and change saws and cutting tools in a sawmill environment.

The ideal candidate is safety-focused, mechanically inclined, dependable, detail-oriented, and eager to develop saw filing skills under experienced mentors in a manufacturing setting. Training will cover grinding, swaging, and tool maintenance to support production.

Responsibilities

• Learn basic saw filing practices, procedures, tools, and equipment.
• Assist with inspection, cleaning, sharpening, and preparation of saws and knives.
• Learn how to grind, swage, shape, and maintain band saws, round saws, and chipper knives.
• Assist with changing saws, canter knives, and related cutting tools as trained.
• Communicate equipment, saw, knife, or quality concerns to the Sawmill Supervisor.
• Follow instructions carefully and ask questions when information is unclear.
• Support production needs by helping ensure saws and knives are available when needed.
