Responsibilities

• Operate a solid-fuel boiler system, furnace, and auxiliary equipment to maintain steam and heat for lumber drying kilns.
• Monitor feed systems, combustion air, grate systems, and ash removal for efficient burn and stable boiler pressures.
• Ensure consistent heat and steam delivery to active lumber drying kilns and regulate steam flow as needed.
• Monitor kiln demand, regulate valves, and maintain feed-water systems for multi-stage drying schedules.
• Conduct regular inspections of pumps, valves, piping, and fuel conveyors; assist maintenance on repairs.
• Follow safety procedures, perform lockout/tagout as required, and report near misses or unsafe conditions.
