Job summary

Modern Industries, Inc. in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a qualified machinist to read blueprints, set up and operate circle and plate saws, and process parts according to specs.

You will install blades, adjust speeds, load materials, perform quality checks with calipers and micrometers, maintain equipment, and support prototype set-ups. Proficiency with FANUC machines and strong troubleshooting skills are desired.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and 2+ years related manufacturing experience.
• Familiar with hand and power tools.
• Welding experience is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints and operation sheets to determine appropriate operations.
• Set up and operate circle saw and plate saw machines per print specs to process parts.
• Install saw blades, set blade tension and cutting speeds as specified.
• Set stops and guides to control cut dimensions using steel rule and wrenches.
• Inspect equipment and blade prior to cutting; load and unload materials safely.
• Perform equipment maintenance by replacing dull blades or wheels.
• Use gauges (calipers, micrometers, squares, height gauges) for quality checks.
• Maintain tools and workspace; report equipment issues; ensure safety.
• Prepare set-ups for prototype parts per blueprints and guidelines.
• Operate a FANUC machine when required.
• Other duties may be assigned.

Description

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Read and interpret blueprints and work operations sheets to determine appropriate operations to be performed
• Set up and operates circle saw and plate saw machines in accordance with the print specifications and work instructions to process parts
• Installs saw blade and sets blade tension and cutting speed for specified operations
• Set stops and guides to control dimensions of cut, using steel rule and wrenches
• Inspects equipment and blade before starting the machine to cut.
• Load and unload equipment and materials, manually or with hoist
• Performs equipment maintenance by replacing defective cutting blade or wheel
• Use inspection gauges such as calipers (both dial and vernier), micrometers, squares, and height gauges to perform quality checks on parts as outlined by work instructions; corrects dimensional problems and approves set-ups by other operators.
• Maintain tools, measuring instruments, and equipment in a clean and orderly manner; reports all equipment problems or malfunctions to the shift supervisor immediately; and maintains clean, orderly and safe work areas at all times.
• Perform set-up for prototype parts and forms according to blueprints and guidelines.
• Ability to operate a FANUC machine

Required Skills/Abilities:

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and two or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 2-3 years Manufacturing experience
• Welding experience good, but not necessary.
• Familiarity with hand and power tools
• Strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills
• Ability to handle physical workloadAbility to thrive in a fast-paced environment
