Job summary

Apache Workforce is hiring a Semi-Automatic Saw Operator to safely and efficiently operate semi-automatic saw machines with conveyor systems to cut structural materials.

You will be responsible for machine setup, monitoring cut quality, performing routine maintenance, and reading shop drawings and cut lists to ensure accurate dimensions. This on-site role requires attention to safety and teamwork in a fast-paced production environment.

Qualifications

• Experience operating semi-automatic/band/structural saws preferred.

Responsibilities

• Safely and efficiently operate semi-automatic saw machines with conveyor systems.
• Set up and prepare the saw machine for production.
• Verify material type, size, thickness, and specifications before cutting.
• Load and position structural materials correctly on the conveyor and saw system.
• Monitor the cutting process and ensure accurate, quality cuts.
• Inspect finished material for proper dimensions and cut quality.
• Make machine adjustments as needed to maintain production and quality standards.
• Perform routine cleaning, inspection, lubrication, and preventative maintenance.
• Change or adjust saw blades and other machine components as required and properly trained.
• Read and understand shop drawings, cut lists, work orders, and material requirements.
• Use tape measures and other measuring tools to verify material dimensions.
• Safely operate an overhead crane and forklift after required training/certification.
• Rig, lift, move, and position long or heavy structural materials.
• Assist with material inventory audits and accurately identify available material.
• Track scrap, drops, and usable remnant material.
• Maintain proper material organization in the production area.
• Keep the saw and surrounding work area clean and organized.
• Follow all company safety procedures, including machine guarding, PPE, crane safety, forklift safety, and material handling requirements.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, machine operators, fitters, and other production team members.
• Perform other duties as assigned by TAS Energy.

Position Overview

Apache Workforce is hiring Semi-Automatic Saw Operators. This position is responsible for safely and efficiently operating semi-automatic saw machines with conveyor systems to cut structural materials according to production requirements.

The Semi-Automatic Saw Operator will be responsible for machine setup, monitoring cut quality, performing routine maintenance, handling and moving materials, assisting with inventory activities, and maintaining a safe and organized work environment.

Key Responsibilities

Safely and efficiently operate semi-automatic saw machines with conveyor systems.

Set up and prepare the saw machine for production.

Load and position structural materials correctly on the conveyor and saw system.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Previous experience operating a semi-automatic saw, band saw, structural saw, or similar industrial cutting equipment preferred.

Ability to safely operate machinery in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.

Ability to read and accurately use a tape measure.

Basic understanding of measurements, fractions, and shop math.

Ability to identify structural materials such as beams, channels, angles, tubing, pipe, plate, and bar stock.

Ability to read basic shop drawings, cut lists, work orders, and material specifications.

Ability to inspect finished cuts for accuracy and quality.

Ability to perform basic machine maintenance and identify equipment issues.

Knowledge of safe material handling, lifting, and rigging practices.

Strong attention to detail and safety awareness.

Good communication and teamwork skills.

Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.

Preferred Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

Previous structural steel or metal fabrication experience.

Experience operating industrial saws with conveyor systems.

Overhead crane certification.

Experience with rigging and material handling.

Previous experience working with structural steel.

Vocational training or certification in machine operation or manufacturing.

Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

Work is performed in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing/shop environment.

Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods, including shifts of up to 10 hours.

Ability to work up to 6 days per week based on production needs.

Frequent bending, twisting, reaching, standing, walking, and maintaining balance.

Ability to lift materials weighing up to 50 pounds frequently.

Ability to occasionally carry, push, or pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds over short distances.

Frequent use of hands for handling, grasping, and machine operation.

Ability to climb ladders as needed.

Ability to safely work around moving machinery, conveyors, cranes, forklifts, and structural materials.

Normal vision and hand-eye coordination required.

Hearing ability required to safely perform job duties in a manufacturing environment.

Required PPE includes steel-toe boots, safety glasses, and TAS-provided hard hat.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for a dependable Semi-Automatic Saw Operator with strong attention to detail and a commitment to safety. The ideal candidate will have experience operating industrial cutting equipment, working with structural materials, reading measurements and work orders, and safely handling large or heavy materials.

Pay: $20.00–$25.00/hour DOE
Night Shift: Additional 10% shift differential
