Job summary

UFP Industries, Inc. in Texas seeks a Saw Operator I to set up and operate a single-blade saw and read production scheduling sheets to identify material requirements. You will feed, cut, and inspect parts, maintain accurate production records, and follow safety and quality procedures on the line.

Qualifications

• High school diploma GED is preferred but not required.
• Minimum 3 months of experience using saws or similar equipment; some experience in manufacturing and assembling is preferred.
• Working knowledge of basic math preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Ensures material meets quality specifications such as grade, size, and moisture content.
• Performs setups according to specifications.
• Feeds material according to specifications.
• Periodically checks equipment to ensure specifications are met.
• Offloads and stacks material as required and may cover, label and band components finished product.
• Ensures work area is safe, clean and organized; equipment is safe to operate.
• Completes pre-shift startup equipment inspection checklist and reports problems.
• Maintains a clean and orderly work environment.
• Maintains production records as required.
• Checks materials and finished products for standards compliance.
• Performs duties per safety and quality procedures and standards and completes LOTO as required.
• Performs preventive maintenance as specified.
• Participates in safety, CI, and other programs and meetings.
• Performs other duties as assigned

• Ensures material meets quality specifications grade, size, moisture content, etc.
• Performs setups according to specifications.
• Feeds material according to specifications.
• Periodically checks equipment to ensure specifications are being met.
• Offloads and stacks material in accordance with established procedures, and if required, may cover, label and band components finished product.
• Ensures work area is safe, clean and organized, and that equipment is safe to operate.
