Job summary

Service Steel Aerospace seeks a Saw Operator in Canton, OH to load and cut aerospace metals using band saws and plate saws. You will read work orders, verify material type and size, and position stock for cutting while maintaining a safe, clean work environment.

Responsibilities include blade setup, speed adjustments, data input, and measuring outputs with calipers and tapes. Strong math, teamwork, and ability to meet deadlines are required.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate band saws to cut aluminum, alloy, stainless steels, titanium, and other metals to specified dimensions.
• Read work orders for material specs and dimensions.
• Retrieve material and transfer to band saws by hand, forklift, or crane.
• Install saw blades and set cutting speeds per operation.
• Input data to set band saw parameters from work orders.
• Measure finished pieces for conformance using calipers and tapes.
• Move material with forklift or crane and maintain inventory records.
• Follow safety procedures and quality procedures as documented.

This position will perform all work order requirements, meeting all production lead time and quality control measures, while maintaining a clean and safe environment.

Responsibilities

• Sets up and operates band saws to cut aluminum, alloy, stainless steels, titanium, and other exotic metals to specified dimensions.
• Reads work order for specifications, like material, type and size of stock and dimensions to be cut.
• Retrieves material and transfers stock to band saws manually, with forklift, or by crane.
• Installs saw blade in band saws and sets blade cutting speed for specified operation.
• Removal of band saw blades.
• Inputs data to set band saw parameters based on shop work order specifications.
• May manually position material using back stops in band saw.
• Turns valve to start flow of coolant against cutting area.
• Operates band saws and observes cutting operation.
• Measures work for conformance to specifications, using ruler, tape measure, and measuring calipers.
• Marks identifying data on product.
• Moves material with forklift.
• Moves material with crane.
• Data Input into computer inventory system.
• Follows all quality inspections and quality requirements in regard to work orders and Quality Procedure Manual.
• Follows all work instructions pertaining to job.
• Follows all JSA's for equipment worked.
• Follows all Safety Procedures
