Job summary

The Indigo Road Hospitality Group (IRHG) is seeking a saute cook in Greenville, SC. You will maintain high quality standards and work in a team-oriented environment to deliver an unforgettable dining experience.

This role requires at least 2 years of kitchen experience, strong knife skills, and knowledge of food costs and safety. Nights, weekends, and holidays availability is required; opportunities for growth and competitive benefits are offered.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in kitchen preparation and line cook.
  • Basic understanding of professional cooking and knife handling skills.
  • Basic food cost knowledge.
  • Understanding and knowledge of kitchen safety, sanitation and food handling procedures.
  • Must be available to work nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to read and understand basic cooking directions.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly with managers, kitchen and restaurant employees.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately and efficiently prepare the highest quality cuisine for guests, complying with standard portion sizes, methods, and procedures.
  • Assume 100% responsibility for quality of products served.
  • Adhere to all regulations for cleanliness and sanitation.
  • Stock and maintain sufficient levels of food at line stations for smooth service.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary work station, including equipment.
  • Prepare items for broiling, grilling, frying, sautéing or other methods as needed.
  • Follow proper plate presentation and garnish setup for all dishes.
  • Assist in food prep during off-peak periods.
  • Close the kitchen properly and assist others in closing tasks.
  • Attend scheduled employee meetings and contribute improvement ideas.

The Role:

As a saute cook, you maintain high quality standards for each dish that is sent out. Consistency and perfection are the two things you strive for when delivering an unforgettable dining experience while working in a team-oriented environment.

What we will ask of you:

  • Accurately and efficiently prepare the highest quality cuisine for our guests; compiling consistently with our standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen rules, policies and procedures.
  • Assume 100% responsibility for quality of products serves
  • Adhere to all DHEC regulations for cleanliness and sanitation
  • Stocks and maintains sufficient levels of food products at line stations to assure a smooth service period
  • Maintains a clean and sanitary work station area including tables, shelves, grills, broilers, fryers, pasta cookers, sauté burners, convection oven flat top range and refrigeration equipment
  • Prepares item for broiling, grilling, frying, sautéing or other cooking methods by portioning, battering, breading, seasoning and/or maintaining
  • Follows proper plate presentation and garnish set up for all dishes
  • Assists in food prep assignments during off-peak periods as needed
  • Closes the kitchen properly and follows the closing checklist for kitchen stations. Assists others in closing the kitchen.
  • Attends all scheduled employee meetings and brings suggestions for improvement

Requirements for Success:

  • A minimum 2 years’ experience in kitchen preparation and line cook experience
  • Basic understanding of professional cooking and knife handling skills
  • Basic food cost knowledge
  • Understanding and knowledge of kitchen safety, sanitation and food handling procedures.
