Job summary

Blue Sky Innovators, Inc. is seeking a Software Developer to support ground software for a satellite program in Alexandria, VA. You will design, develop, test, and maintain mission-critical software used in space operations.

The role requires an active TS/SCI clearance with CI Poly, a BS in CS/SWE or related field, and at least 5 years of flight software experience. On-site work in Alexandria is required, with collaboration across government and engineering teams.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI clearance with CI Polygraph.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience supporting flight software development.
• Proficiency in Python and related systems.
• Ability to work on-site full-time in Alexandria, VA.
• Strong written and verbal communication across engineering and program teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and maintain ground software components in Python supporting satellite mission operations.
• Collaborate with systems engineers, program managers, and government customers to translate mission requirements into software solutions.
• Support the full software development lifecycle, including design, implementation, integration, test, and deployment.
• Participate in code reviews, unit testing, and verification/validation activities to ensure flight software reliability and mission assurance.
• Troubleshoot and resolve software defects and anomalies identified during development, integration, and on-orbit operations.
• Support technical documentation, including design documents, test plans, and software interface specifications.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to support satellite program milestones, reviews, and delivery schedules.
• Adhere to applicable software development standards and mission assurance practices for space systems.
