Our team supports all engineering phases, including technology investment, concept development, proposal writing, requirements definition, design, build, integration, testing, and demonstration in operational environments.

Electrical Power System (EPS) and Harness Engineering team

is responsible for the design, analysis, testing, and operation of power systems across a variety of vehicle classes. This includes power generation, energy storage, power regulation, and power distribution. We seek candidates with a strong engineering / scientific / analytical background to work on system level issues including, but not limited to: proposal work, power system design, power system testing, and anomaly resolution.

Ideal candidates will possess expertise in harness design tools, electrical modeling tools, power systems architecture, and regulated power systems and familiarity with modern "battery-on-bus" architectures to enable future technology insertion.

Position Overview

As a Satellite Electrical Power and Harness Systems Engineer at Boeing, you will be part of a high-performing, dynamic team working on intensive satellite development projects. Your work will span power and harness subsystems for both one-time development and sustaining engineering efforts.

Our team includes engineers focused on power system design and harness system design. While expertise in both areas is highly desirable, distinct roles exist during the design phase. Post-critical design reviews, during integration and test phases, these responsibilities typically consolidate under a single engineer. Below are the key responsibilities for this role:

  • Define and refine requirements and develop verification artifacts for satellite electrical power and/or harness subsystems
  • Perform detailed power subsystem analyses, including:
    • Battery performance modeling and battery charge management planning,
    • Bus voltage regulation and stability analysis (including ripple and transients)
    • Redundancy and fault-tolerance strategies
  • Conduct harness analyses such as voltage drop calculations, fuse blow assessments, short circuit clearing, failure modes and effects analyses (FMEA)
  • Develop, maintain, and update vehicle-level power budgets for all mission phases
  • Assume end-to-end ownership of the EPS/harness subsystem throughout the spacecraft lifecycle
  • Lead power subsystem architecture and sizing efforts, including block diagram development, solar array sizing, and battery capacity determination
  • Collaborate across multidiscipline teams (thermal, mechanical, software, avionics) to ensure design integrity and subsystem compatibility
