Job summary

Sylvan Learning in Round Rock, TX is seeking a part-time Sylvan Teacher. You will teach using Sylvan program materials, create engaging sessions, and evaluate student progress. Some programs may be virtual or in group classes, with a 4:1 student-teacher ratio and ongoing staff training.

Qualifications

• Four year degree or equivalent is required.
• State or provincial teaching credentials (current or expired).
• One to two years teaching experience preferred.
• Math degree required for Math program teachers.
• SAT/ACT and test-prep knowledge is a plus.
• Tablet computers knowledge is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares for each instructional session; gathers materials.
• Greets students and starts instruction for individual engagement.
• Instructs students according to Sylvan program design.
• Manages students, tasks and time for balanced sessions.
• Evaluates and records student progress on assignments.
• Uses praise and tokens to motivate learners.
• Records tokens earned by students.
• Handles session wrap-up and learning log completion; ensures safety.
• Communicates student needs to Center staff.
• Attends staff meetings and completes training; completes program certification.
