Job summary

Sharpedge Solutions Inc. is seeking an experienced SAP OM&E Consultant to design, configure, and support Order Management & Execution with a strong focus on Order BOM.

The role bridges Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, Planning, Procurement, and Shop Floor Execution to enable customer-specific configurations. Responsibilities include end-to-end BOM design for ETO/CTO/MTO, integration across SAP SD/PP/MM, and leading workshops to document As-Is and To-Be OM&E processes, with hands-on SIT/UAT

Qualifications

• Strong SAP OM&E knowledge and hands-on configuration experience.
• Experience designing end-to-end Order BOM processes for ETO/CTO/MTO environments.
• Ability to translate sales requirements into engineering structures and BOMs.
• Experience in integration between SAP SD, PP, MM, and PLM processes.
• Proven track record in cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Configure and support SAP processes: Sales Orders, BOM creation, material BOMs, BOM explosion, MRP, procurement, and manufacturing execution.

• Lead workshops with stakeholders to document As-Is and To-Be OM&E processes.
• Prepare functional specs, process flows, test scenarios, and design docs.
• Execute SIT/UAT and support go-live and hypercare.

Job description

The SAP OM&E Consultant is responsible for designing, configuring, and supporting Order Management & Execution processes with a strong focus on Order BOM. The role bridges Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, Planning, Procurement, and Shop Floor Execution to enable customer-specific and order-specific product configurations.

Key Responsibilities

• Design end-to-end Order BOM processes for Engineer-to-Order (ETO), Configure-to-Order (CTO), and Make-to-Order (MTO) scenarios.
• Define how customer requirements originating from a sales order are translated into order-specific engineering structures and BOMs.
• Configure and support SAP processes involving: o Sales Orders o Order BOM creation and maintenance o Material BOMs o BOM explosion and component determination o Production/Planned Orders o Engineering changes o Material Requirements Planning (MRP) o Procurement of order-specific components o Manufacturing execution
• Establish integration between SAP SD, PP, MM, and engineering/PLM processes.
• Support Order BOM creation, copying, modification, explosion, and downstream consumption.
• Define rules for transferring engineering changes to manufacturing while maintaining traceability to the customer/order.
• Work with engineering teams to manage customer-specific BOM structures, variants, substitutions, and component changes.
• Ensure correct propagation of Order BOM components into planning, procurement, production orders, and shop-floor execution.
• Analyze complex BOM issues including quantity mismatches, missing components, incorrect explosion, alternative items, phantom assemblies, and effectivity.
• Design integration between Order BOM and: o Variant Configuration o Engineering Change Management o Production Planning o Purchasing o Inventory Management o Production Execution o Costing
• Lead workshops with business stakeholders to document As-Is and To-Be OM&E processes.
• Prepare functional specifications, configuration documents, process flows, test scenarios, and solution design documentation.
• Execute SIT/UAT and support defect resolution, cutover, go-live, and hypercare activities.
• Coordinate with technical teams for enhancements, interfaces, reports, conversions, workflows, and forms. Typical End-to-End Process Customer Requirement → Sales Order → Order BOM → Engineering Changes → MRP → Procurement/Production → Production Order → Shop Floor Execution → Delivery The consultant should understand how an Order BOM allows engineering/manufacturing to maintain an order-specific product structure without unnecessarily modifying the standard product BOM.
