Job summary

Amazon Leo is seeking a SAP MDG Functional Architect to lead the MDG strategy and delivery for material master governance. You will drive blueprinting, design, and integration across SAP modules, aligning with business goals and roadmap priorities.

The role requires deep MDG configuration expertise, cross-functional collaboration, and a focus on data quality and governance to enable scalable product improvements for Amazon’s satellite network initiatives.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years in design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures.
  • 5+ years of hands-on SAP MDG configuration experience with a minimum of 2 full end-to-end implementations, preferably in a manufacturing environment with a strong focus on Material Master.
  • Experience implementing and supporting SAP MDG solutions, including data modeling, governance frameworks, and workflow configuration.
  • Strong understanding of data governance principles, data quality management, and master data lifecycle processes.
  • Experience integrating SAP MDG with SAP S/4HANA and core modules such as MM, PP, EWM, QM, and Finance.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct Blueprint workshops and fit-gap analysis with detailed design documents.
  • Identify change management and training needs; lead train-the-trainer sessions for product changes.
  • Participate in strategic planning and roadmaps for SAP MDG solutions.
  • Manage quarter planning, sprint planning, deployment for feature enhancements with business value.
  • Define critical metrics including success metrics and data-driven insights.
  • Prepare product design, functional specs; configure, test and support SAP MDG implementations.
  • Build and support integration with cross-workstream processes – SAP PP, EWM, MM, SAP MES.
  • Support SAP Production system for ticket resolutions and business needs.
  • Team player and contributor to collective success of the team.

Key job responsibilities
  • Build SAP MDG based product vision and solutions
  • Ability to identify and implement best practices to optimize business processes using SAP and championing for utility/intuitiveness/simplicity of process/product
  • Conduct Blueprint workshops, fit-gap analysis and produce detailed design documents reasoning from core needs, reasoning from core needs, challenging assumptions
  • Identify change management and training needs, support creating training documentation and lead train the trainer sessions for Product changes
  • Participate in strategic planning, roadmap discussions for SAP MDG solutions including contributions to Amazon 1yr-3yr annual planning
  • Manage quarter planning, sprint planning, deployment for product feature enhancements bringing in business value, business impact and reasoning.
  • Defining critical metrics including - success metrics, product adoption, data driven insights into product improvement
  • Prepare product design, functional specifications, configure, test and support implementation for all SAP RICEFW areas
  • Build and support integration with cross-workstream processes - SAP PP, EWM, MM, SAP MES system
  • Support SAP Production system for ticket resolutions, business support needs, understanding product improvement opportunities

A day in the life

Enable seamless integration of MDG with SAP S/4HANA, MM, EWM, QM, PP, Finance, and non-SAP systems, ensuring reliable data distribution and consistency across platforms.

Govern the material lifecycle by enforcing standardization, harmonization, and compliance across all stages of material master data management.

Basic Qualifications
  • 3+ years of design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures experience
  • Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition
  • Experience in representing and advocating for a variety of critical customers and stakeholders during executive-level prioritization and planning
  • 5+ years of hands-on SAP MDG configuration experience with a minimum of 2 full end-to-end implementations, preferably in a manufacturing environment with a strong focus on Material Master.
  • Experience implementing and supporting SAP MDG solutions, including data modeling, governance frameworks, and workflow configuration.
  • Strong understanding of data governance principles, data quality management, and master data lifecycle processes.
  • Experience integrating SAP MDG with SAP S/4HANA and core modules such as MM, PP, EWM, QM, and Finance.
  • Hands-on experience with BRF+, workflow design, change request management, and data replication frameworks.
  • Experience in troubleshooting data issues, workflow errors, and integration challenges.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5+ years of infrastructure architecture, database architecture and networking experience
  • Knowledge of SAP systems (like SAP Business Suite, S/4HANA, SAP Business Warehouse, SAP HANA, SAP Business Objects, etc.) and their architecture and infrastructure needs
  • Experience working with end user or developer communities
  • Experience managing relationships with SAP customers and partners
  • Experience in SAP S/4HANA, SAP Cloud Platform, SAP Cloud ERP and Cloud ERP Private
  • Experience in SAP clean core design concepts, including design and build using non-SAP technologies in domains such as Generative / Agentic AI, and data & analytics
