Job summary

Woodward, Inc. is seeking a Level 2 SAP Basis and Security Administrator to support the stability, performance, and security of SAP landscapes across ECC and S/4HANA.

This role handles monitoring, transports, patching, upgrades, and security governance in a global rollout context. You will work with application teams, infrastructure, and SAP security governance to support changes, testing, cutover, and hypercare.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on SAP Basis administration including monitoring, transports, refreshes, patching, upgrades, and performance tuning.
  • Experience supporting global SAP implementations across multiple environments and regions.
  • Working knowledge of SAP Security and GRC, RBAC, user provisioning, and SoD analysis.
  • Experience with security design and access models, including governance.
  • Experience administering NextLabs for data protection and compliance.
  • Basic understanding of cloud platforms such as IBP, BTP, and Azure.
  • Ability to develop automation scripts for provisioning, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Experience with change and release management and CAB participation.
  • Troubleshooting and root cause analysis across SAP landscapes.
  • Documentation and knowledge sharing to support SOPs and training.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with developers, QA, and security teams.
  • Audit and compliance readiness to prepare for audits.

Responsibilities

  • System lifecycle management for SAP and other enterprise systems across ECC and S/4HANA.

Estimated annual base pay: $78,000(minimum) - $102,000(midpoint) - $125,000(maximum)

A Level 2 SAP Basis and Security Administrator is responsible for supporting the stability, performance, and security of SAP landscapes while enabling standardized and secure access during a global SAP rollout. The role supports daytoday Basis activities such as system monitoring, transports, patching, upgrades, and environment refreshes, while also administering SAP security through rolebased access, user provisioning, and Segregation of Duties controls. This position works closely with application teams, infrastructure, and SAP security governance to support system changes, testing cycles, cutover, and hypercare activities across regions. A strong focus is placed on operational excellence, compliance, and ensuring consistent technical and security processes as part of an enterprisewide SAP S/4HANA transformation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • System Lifecycle Management: Independently manage system (e.g. SAP, Windchill, Workday, etc.) upgrades and environment refreshes; troubleshoot installation issues and optimize configurations; Take ownership of application updates, patches, and upgrades to ensure optimal performance and security; Identify inefficiencies in application workflows and recommend improvements.
  • Performance and Reliability Engineering: Analyze performance metrics to identify trends; implement tuning recommendations and validate improvements.
  • Security and Compliance Administration: Manage role-based access controls and support internal audits; resolve segregation of duties (SoD) conflicts; Configure and manage user roles, access controls, and permissions to ensure application (e.g. SAP, Windchill, Workday, etc.) security.
  • Change and Transport Management: Coordinate change deployments across systems (e.g. SAP, Windchill, Workday, etc.); troubleshoot transport errors and maintain logs.
  • Collaboration and Knowledge Transfer: Collaborate with other team members; contribute to SOPs and knowledge bases; Plan, execute, and oversee small application-related projects, such as system migrations, tool upgrades, or workflow automation; Define project goals, allocate resources, monitor timelines, and ensure deliverables are achieved.
Key Skills:
  • Handson experience with SAP Basis administration, including system monitoring, transports (TMS), system refreshes, patching, upgrades, and performance tuning across ECC and S/4HANA landscape.
  • Ability to support global SAP implementations and rollouts, including build, test, cutover, and hypercare activities across multiple environments and regions.
  • Working knowledge of SAP Security and GRC, including rolebased access control, user provisioning, Segregation of Duties (SoD) analysis, and audit support.
  • Experience supporting security role design and access models, including business roles, taskbased roles, and alignment to global security strategy standards.
  • Experience administering and supporting NextLabs for data protection, access control enforcement, and compliance with regulatory and engineering data security requirements.
  • Basic understanding of cloud platforms such as IBP, BTP, and Azure.
  • Software Installation and Configuration: Independently install, configure, and optimize enterprise software solutions; Customize settings to meet business requirements and ensure integration with existing systems.
  • Performance Monitoring and Optimization: Manage updates, patches, and upgrades for software applications to ensure optimal performance; Analyze performance metrics, identify bottlenecks, and implement tuning strategies. Recommend improvements based on trend analysis.
  • Security and Access Management: Implement role-based access controls (RBAC), enforce security policies, and support compliance audits.
  • Change and Release Management: Coordinate releases, manage version control, and ensure rollback readiness. Participate in change advisory boards (CABs).
  • Troubleshooting and Root Cause Analysis: Perform root cause analysis and implement long-term fixes; Address complex application issues and make decisions regarding configurations and workflows; Document findings and share knowledge with peers.
  • Automation and Scripting: Develop and maintain automation scripts for provisioning, monitoring, and reporting. Integrate with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Infrastructure and Architecture Planning: Plan and execute infrastructure changes, including scaling, redundancy, and failover strategies.
  • Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Create detailed documentation for systems and processes; Provide guidance to junior administrators and assist in building their technical and project management skills; Contribute to internal knowledge bases and peer training.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with developers, QA, and security teams to resolve issues and implement changes.
  • Audit and Compliance Readiness: Manage SoD conflicts, prepare for audits, and ensure adherence to policies and standards.

This position is onsite Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and remote Tuesday and Friday.
