Job summary

Jobtailor seeks a Technical Product Owner to advance and optimize financial systems within SAP S/4HANA Finance, including FI/CO and posting logic, supporting the financial close processes.

You will translate business needs into user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional specifications, and manage backlogs while collaborating with SAP developers and architecture teams to drive ERP transformations. Strong Finance leadership collaboration and Agile discipline are essential.

Qualifications

• 10–12 years of experience in SAP RTR/AP or related ERP environments.
• Expert in SAP S/4HANA Finance FI/CO and close processes.
• Experience aligning finance process standards, accounting policies, and SAP guidelines.
• Strong analytical skills for diagnosing system and data issues.
• Proficient with Agile delivery using Jira and Confluence.
• Ability to translate needs into scalable technical specs.
• Experience with multi-entity/global financial operating models (preferred).
• CPA or relevant finance/accounting degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and optimize SAP RTR, AP, and related financial ERP work streams.
• Collaborate with SAP developers and architecture teams on GL posting logic, period-end close, reconciliations, and reporting improvements.
• Own sprint planning, backlog refinement, and release readiness for finance transformations.
• Ensure compliance with SAP guidelines, internal controls, and global templates during changes.
• Drive cross-team problem solving and durable process improvements across ERP programs.
• Build and maintain a multi-quarter product roadmap aligned with Finance leadership priorities.

• Advance and optimize financial systems as Technical Product Owner


• Drive finance systems strategy, standards, and requirements across record-to-report and adjacent finance domains


• Collaborate with AP, Treasury, GL, FA, close stakeholders, and technology leaders to collect requirements and validate business needs


• Translate business needs into user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional specifications


• Verify RTR modifications follow SAP guidelines, internal controls, and global templates


• Lead and prioritize the SAP AP, GL accounting, and financial close product backlog


• Build and maintain a multi-quarter product roadmap


• Align backlog items with Finance leadership priorities, compliance requirements, and ERP transformation strategy


• Establish authority and conduct development governance reviews


• Partner with SAP developers and architecture teams on GL posting logic, period-end close, reconciliations, and reporting improvements


• Confirm functional builds and test outcomes for financial accuracy and data integrity


• Own sprint planning, backlog refinement, and release readiness


• Ensure visibility, prioritization, and timely delivery across internal IT teams and external implementation partners


• Champion quality and accountability throughout development, testing, and release cycles


• Identify and address subledger/ledger alignment, period-end close, and financial policy consistency issues


• Drive cross-team problem solving and durable process improvements


• Support enterprise-wide finance modernization, simplification, and automation initiatives

Requirements

• 10–12 years of experience as a Technical Product Owner, Business Analyst, or functional lead supporting SAP RTR, AP, or other financial ERP processes


• Strong expertise in SAP S/4HANA Finance, including FI/CO, financial posting logic, and close processes


• Experience aligning finance process standards, accounting policies, and SAP guidelines


• Strong analytical skills for diagnosing system, process, and data issues affecting financial accuracy


• Agile delivery experience using Jira and Confluence


• Interpersonal and communication skills to work with Finance and Accounting leaders and convert needs into scalable technical specifications


• Experience supporting multi-entity, multi-product, or global financial operating models preferred


• Background supporting ERP transformation, stabilization, or financial modernization programs preferred


• CPA or Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or Information Systems, or equivalent preferred


• SAP Finance certifications preferred
