Whitsons Culinary Group is seeking a sanitation team member to ensure the plant meets mandatory sanitation requirements for machinery, equipment and facilities. The role follows policy, OSHA regulations, and the management structure to maintain audit readiness and cleanliness throughout production areas.

The position involves exterior cleaning of equipment, assisting with major projects, and adhering to sanitation schedules while collaborating with production staff.

Responsibilities

  • Cleans exterior of equipment, tanks, walls, floors, baseboards, handrails, sinks, drains and trash cans to keep the plant audit-ready.
  • Assists production staff with cleaning up major projects as needed.
  • Responsible for the daily exterior cleaning of machinery.
  • Ensures different rooms are cleaned throughout the plant by mopping, sweeping, wiping, etc.
  • Takes direction from Sanitation Supervisor to resolve sanitation-related issues.
  • Works with Production and other co-workers to meet sanitation schedules while maximizing productivity.
  • Analyzes and resolves sanitation work problems, or assists workers in solving sanitation work problems.
  • Keeps outside grounds cleaned year-round.
  • Cleans common and office areas on occasion.

Job description

This position is responsible to ensure that the plant meets mandatory sanitation requirements for machinery, equipment and facilities. This person carries out tasks in accordance with Whitsons policies, OSHA regulations and applicable laws while following the Management Operating Structure.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Ensures plant is audit ready at all times by cleaning, scrubbing, and sanitizing the outside of all equipment, tanks, stairs, walls, floors, baseboards, handrails, sinks, drains, and trash cans throughout the plant.
  • Assists production staff with cleaning up major projects as needed.
  • Responsible for the daily exterior cleaning of machinery.
  • Ensures different rooms are cleaned throughout the plant by mopping, sweeping, wiping, etc..
  • Takes direction from Sanitation Supervisor to resolve sanitation-related issues.

  • Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Lifting while turning side to side is sometimes necessary.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Position sometimes requires extended hours including evenings and/or weekends, travel to multiple work sites and occasional out-of-state travel.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • The work is performed primarily in a manufacturing and warehouse environment, specifically the packing and warehousing areas
  • Standing most of the work day is required.
  • Work requires movement in and out of store rooms, near heavy machinery and freezers
  • Exposure to extreme temperatures (hot and cold) due to cooking and refrigeration equipment.

The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud.
