Job summary

Surlean Foods is seeking a sanitation associate to clean equipment, lines and the production area in accordance with USDA standards. You will hose down surfaces, apply cleaning chemicals, and perform hot water wash downs to maintain sanitary conditions in the meat production facility.

Responsibilities include waste handling, drains, and safe chemical usage following MSDS and safety guidelines. The role requires standing, lifting up to 60 lbs, and flexibility to support production needs.

Qualifications

Job description

Purpose:

Responsible for cleaning of equipment, equipment lines and production area to USDA standards.

Essential job duties:

• Hoses down all plant equipment, floors, and walls using cold-water rinse.
• Applies chemicals for cleaning, degreasing and sanitizing using sprayers and hoses.
• Applies a hot water wash down of sterilization.
• Shovels and sweeps up waste from daily production of meat products.
• Gather trash in carts and transports to trash compactor for disposal.
• Cleans drains and sewers in plant area by sweeping floors and transporting debris to trash area.
• Handles equipment and chemicals according to government, MSDS and company safety standards.
• Familiar with General Manufacturing Procedures.
• Complies with lockout/tag out program.
• Performs other duties assign by management.

Working Conditions:

Frequently requires standing, lifting, walking, reaching, stooping, bending, smelling, listening, speaking, and seeing to perform the essential job duties.

Work conditions vary, quitting time will vary based upon production needs, and flexibility is critical. Temperatures range from 30 to 110 degrees in processing departments.

Exposure to potentially dangerous machinery and equipment are present in the plant. Potential electrical, mechanical, and chemical, hazards are also present. The noise level is high and constant. Floors are damp and slick.

Must be able to bend, stoop, pull and lift up to 60 lbs., and to stand for long periods of time.

Knowledge:

• Know metal detector policy and proper handling of product.
• To keep the packing equipment and work area in a safe and orderly manner.

Education and Work Experience:
