Position Summary

Sanitation Department
Payrate 18.54

This position is a member of a team whose duties are to clean and sanitize the food processing plant and equipment to meet food safety and quality standards. This position is expected to disassemble and clean processing equipment without causing damage and reassemble of equipment while maintaining organization of multiple parts. This position is required to work well within a team to completely clean and sanitize the plant. This position will be working around processing equipment in which chemicals will be used to complete the sanitation process. Handle chemicals used in the process of cleaning and sanitation by following safety procedures. The sanitation worker must be able to work as a team along with other members of the crew and be flexible and willing to perform additional varying tasks per the supervisor's instructions and in accordance with all production and safety guidelines. Observe and follow GMPs, and Standard Sanitation Operating Procedures (SSOPs).

Essential Job Functions
  • Follow Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP) for cleaning and sanitation to maintain compliance with food safety regulations (e.g. FDA, CDFA).
  • Remove all debris from machinery, floors, and contact points prior to cleaning. Make sure all electrical equipment is bagged prior to rinsing the equipment. Disassemble food-processing equipment as necessary. Pre-rinse machinery and contact surfaces.
  • Foam scrub and rinse the entire processing room (i.e. food contact surfaces, equipment, floors, walls) prior to sanitizing. Utilize sanitation tools in a proper and safe manner including high-pressure hot water hoses, chemicals, foamers, sanitizers scrubbing equipment, etc.
  • Reassemble equipment and prepare for the next day's food production.
  • Document cleaning activities, including dates, times and areas cleaned, and report any discrepancies or concerns to the sanitation supervisor.
  • Handle and dispose of waste material in accordance with environmental and safety regulation.
  • Participate in safety training and adhere to safety protocol to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor and/or Lead-person.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bilingual (English & Spanish)
  • Previous sanitation experience, preferably in dairy, and foods.
  • Familiarity in handling chemicals, equipment, and safety procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to lift and move heavy objects, stand for extended periods, and work in varying temperatures.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSA's)
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
  • MATHEMATICS ABILITY: Able to perform very simple algebra.
Environmental/Working Conditions
  • Will be exposed to refrigerated rooms under 45 °F.
  • Will be exposed to hot environment.
  • Must be able to work in a wet environment.
  • Will be exposed to cleaning chemicals.
  • Some areas within production are noisy.
  • May stand for long periods of time.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift to 50 lbs.
  • Capability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced.
  • Ability to climb up and down stairs.
