Job summary

Maker's Pride in Illinois is seeking a Plant Sanitation Supervisor to implement the sanitation program and ensure compliance with food safety standards. You will train sanitation staff and coordinate with the Quality Manager, Plant Manager, and production teams to address sanitation issues.

The role requires leadership, strong communication, and knowledge of GMPs, HACCP, and allergen controls. 3rd shift, with occasional weekend work, and a competitive benefits package are offered.

Qualifications

  • Strong leadership and ability to train staff in sanitation practices.
  • Knowledge of GMP, HACCP, allergens, and BRC audit prep.
  • Experience applying LEAN/CI tools (Kaizen, 5S, VSM) in manufacturing.
  • Proficient with MS Office and enterprise software to analyze data.
  • Ability to communicate sanitation issues clearly to managers and teams.
  • Proven track record developing and maintaining sanitation programs.

Job description

Job Summary

The Plant Sanitation Supervisor is responsible for implementing the Sanitation program, and for ensuring that all current Food Safety Standards are being met throughout the site. The Sanitation supervisor will train and develop all sanitation employees to be able to identify and control GMP issues and to enforce all current food safety standards. The Sanitation Supervisor will be responsible for communicating in a clear manner any Sanitation issues with the Quality Manager, Plant Manager, and/or all the Production and Sanitation Staff.

Job Duties

Duties may include, but are not limited to the following: Assist in the development of and maintenance of Sanitation program (HACCP, Allergen, etc.) for a variety of products in compliance with customer and government regulations. Assists with consumer complaint issues and leading plant teams in the direction necessary to minimize complaints. Assists with the development of Sanitation procedures and paperwork. Must have a strong working relationship with Plant Manager and Quality/Sanitation Manager Work with the Sanitation Team in identifying sanitation or regulation issues at assigned facility. Ensure that the facility is ready for Third Party or Customer inspections. Assists with policy, procedures and paperwork to ensure that all Company and Customer standards are achieved in assigned plant. Provides an atmosphere that allows for the development of future supervisors or managers. Assists with the management of the Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS). Leads Continuous Improvement of facility sanitation. Assists with the control and maintenance of the Sanitation budget. Supervises Sanitation chemical suppliers. Manages Sanitation staff. Works with the Product Safety Auditor to identify and correct sanitation or environmental issues at assigned facility. Ensures that all chemicals used in the plant are approved for such use and that all chemicals have current MSDS information on site. Responsible for the dilution testing of all chemicals needing diluted. Develop and train all steps of each plant clean-up. Responsible for the pest control program. Other duties as identified or assigned by Quality Manager. Fill in for Manger during his/her absence.

Required Competencies & Knowledge

Knowledge of: Master Sanitation Plan and other legal requirements for the food industry, including GMP's. Must be knowledgeable regarding requirements of USDA, FDA, OTCO. Must be knowledgeable in GMP's, HACCP, Allergens and BRC. Must understand the 10 principles of sanitary equipment design. Good understanding of commercial manufacturing Fresh, Frozen, and Co-packaging Skilled in: Demonstrated good record in developing and maintaining programs and handling conflicts with positive and practical attitude. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, computer literate, self‑motivated and able to make sound business decisions. Excellent motivational and people skills. Ability to: Strong written and verbal communication skills, analytical ability, leadership strength and ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization. Work in a fast‑paced environment Make sound business decisions. Proficiency in: MS Office, Excel, SAP / PICK Systems

Work Environment

Work computer work in an office setting. Frequently in production environment with exposure to noise, dust, moving machinery, fork lifts, and fluctuations in temperature.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

3 or more years of sanitation, food safety or quality supervisory experience in a food or beverage manufacturing environment. Large scale manufacturing experience a plus. Results oriented, possess strong interpersonal skills, be a team player as well as an independent worker and have strong and effective verbal and written communication skills. This person should be recognized as a leader capable of driving excellence. Possess leadership skills as well as an appropriate amount of technical skills in a high‑speed manufacturing environment. A knowledge of LEAN Manufacturing techniques and related CI tools are required: I.e., Root Cause Analysis, Agile, Kaizen Events, Blitz, Value Stream Mapping, OEE, First Hour Full Power, Labor Analysis, 5S, 7 Forms of Waste, Pit Stop Changeovers, etc. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and have some experience and/or the ability to learn associated corporate enterprise software systems to analyze and track data as well as ensuring the sanitation organization understands key operational information. Understanding of Master Sanitation Schedules. Demonstrated experience training teams is preferred. GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) knowledge is required. Experience with SQF or BRC audit prep and ATP swab experience is a bonus. This is a 3rd Shift Position 9PM to 5:30 AM . Monday-Friday with some weekend work. Sponsorship for work authorization is not available for this position. It is the candidate's responsibility to ensure they are legally authorized to work in the location to which they apply. The pay range for this full-time, salaried position is $66,813 - $100,219/year. Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job‑related skills, and relevant education or training. The position is eligible for a discretionary annual incentive based on company and individual performance.
