Job Description Summary:

This position supervises the Sanitation staff and oversees sanitation and cleaning of the Production and Packing area(s), including but not limited to cleaning of MFG and Packaging equipment and/or machinery. May require working either morning or night (second) shift and weekends during peak season(s); assigned shift will be based on business needs. The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $75,000 - $85,000K per year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assists with the supervision of Sanitation staff, including training and development of forepersons and performance management in compliance with union contract.
  • Assists Sanitation Management with scheduling when necessary to assure availability of staffing needs to support client group(s).
  • The Sanitation Supervisor must be able to identify harborage points, high risk areas, and create mitigation strategies.
  • Assist Sanitation Management in developing an efficient MSS and identify cleaning, frequency, and procedural opportunities.
  • Ensure MSS related tasks are completed in a timely manner.
  • Maintains all Process/Cleaning Logbooks/Binders, ensuring all steps of the Manufacturing Cleaning directions are followed per See’s SSOPs and GMPS.
  • Disassemble, clean and sanitize, processing equipment such as hoppers, mixers, enrobers, swecos, conveyors, scoops, and all other machines, components and parts or as directed by the Manager.
  • Measure, Mix, cleaning, and Sanitizing Solutions as per instructions by the Sanitation Manager/Chemical Provider.
  • Maintain close supervision of the Pest Management Program and assist in collecting Environmental Program samples.
  • Read and Maintain CIP readouts and have the ability to troubleshoot CIP issues.
  • Assists in computer input and departmental record-keeping including but not limited to HRIS timekeeping function(s) as required.
  • Guides Sanitation team in minor and major cleans, delegating responsibilities as necessary, supervising a team of 45 to 50 people, training new/existing team members on safety, efficiency, and proper ways to clean the equipment, ensuring MSS is completed at the frequency given.
  • Develops, maintains, and enforces Sanitation Department Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), food/sanitation safety programs, and workplace safety practices to ensure the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of Sanitation equipment and processes.
  • Monitors team performance and adherence to all established procedures, regulatory requirements, and company standards.
  • Leads and actively supports company safety, food safety, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), quality, and cost-control initiatives within the Sanitation Department.
  • Drives employee engagement, accountability, and continuous improvement efforts to achieve operational, quality, and performance objectives.
  • Maintains communication within own department, as well as cross-departmental with client group(s) such as Packing, Operations to name a few.
  • Responsible for identifying opportunities to enhance technology and innovation that will improve departmental effectiveness.
  • Builds people capabilities through coaching and mentoring of direct reports.
  • Provides performance evaluations for their team.

  • The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, in addition to a full range of generous medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma, certificate in relative areas preferred.
  • Strong people management, communication, motivational, and customer service skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written bilingual skills (English/Spanish) highly preferred.
  • 3-5 years’ experience supervising a union workforce with a diverse employee population.
  • Bachelor’s degree in food science, engineering, business, or other related field preferred (education can compensate for less experience and vice versa).
  • Food manufacturing preferred.
  • Strong mathematical proficiency; excellent PC skills.
  • Familiarity with warehouse management systems or production scheduling preferred.
  • Proven ability to learn new technologies quickly and manage change efficiently, proactively and in a positive manner.
  • Understanding of GFSI, HACCP, SQF, FDA, GMP, GDP, and how to complete RCA/CAPA/NCR/CAR.
  • Must possess a clear understanding of chemical compounds and usage.
  • Must be able to stand for 10 hours and be able to lift 50lbs.
  • 3-5 years supervisor experience.
  • 4-6 years sanitation experience.
