Job summary

Management Recruiters of Zionsville is seeking a Sanitation Supervisor for the first shift in Eastern Indiana. You will lead a team of about 10 sanitation staff, coordinating all sanitation activities to meet food safety and regulatory standards.

Job description

National foot print food manufacturer seeks a Sanitation Supervisor for 1st shift, leading a team of 10, located in Eastern Indiana. Sanitation reports up through Production Leadership as opposed to Quality. The Sanitation Supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating all facility sanitation activities to ensure compliance with food safety, quality, regulatory, and company standards. This position oversees sanitation team members, manages sanitation programs and documentation, maintains sanitation supplies and chemical inventories, and supports pest control management.

Sanitation Operations
  • Supervise and coordinate plant sanitation and cleanup activities following production
  • Ensure all equipment, production areas, and facility spaces are cleaned and sanitized according to established procedures and schedules
  • Verify sanitation effectiveness through inspections and documentation
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, quality, environmental, and regulatory requirements
  • Monitor sanitation performance and implement corrective actions as needed
  • Serve as a resource for sanitation-related troubleshooting and continuous improvement initiatives
Documentation and Program Management
  • Maintain accurate sanitation records and documentation, including verification of cleaning activities
  • Develop, update, and maintain sanitation standard operating procedures (SSOPs) and cleaning procedures for production lines and facility areas
  • Manage sanitation audits, inspections, and corrective action documentation.
  • Order and maintain inventory of sanitation chemicals, cleaning supplies, and janitorial materials
  • Ensure proper chemical storage, handling, usage, and employee training
  • Administer and coordinate the facility pest control program, including vendor oversight and recordkeeping
Leadership and Employee Development
  • Supervise, coach, train, and develop sanitation team members
  • Establish work schedules and assign daily responsibilities
  • Promote employee engagement, accountability, and adherence to safety and food safety standards
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback
  • Support hiring, onboarding, and disciplinary processes as needed
  • Maintain relationships with sanitation, chemical, and pest control vendors
  • Evaluate vendor performance and ensure services meet operational and regulatory requirements
  • Coordinate vendor visits and service schedules
Food Safety and Quality
  • Support and maintain compliance with Food Safety Plans, Food Quality Plans, and prerequisite programs
  • Monitor, document, and take appropriate action on assigned food safety and quality requirements
  • Promptly report food safety and quality concerns to management
Must Haves
  • 3-5 years of current, or recent, Sanitation Lead or Supervision experience in a food or beverage manufacturing plant
  • Bachelor's degree is preferred but not required
Compensation
  • $65,000-$75,000, depending on experience
  • OT if one works over 45 hrs/week
  • Relocation assistance is offered (lump sum minus taxes)
