Job summary

Publix Super Markets in Lakeland, FL is seeking a Maintenance Technician to help with equipment assembly, chemical handling, and site cleaning. The role requires strict adherence to GMPs, safety habits, and the ability to work across multiple positions on the production floor.

The candidate should be capable of lifting heavy loads, learning lockout/tagout procedures, and operating floor scrubbers in a wet environment, contributing to a clean, compliant production area.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Description

• Assembling and disassembling equipment


• Dispensing and using chemicals safely


• Maintaining the chemical storage area


• Cleaning all production equipment


• Maintaining standard operating procedures at an exceptional level


• Ensuring the prevention of damage when cleaning equipment, including electrical wiring and control panels


• Applying various chemicals on different equipment as well as in environmental locations


• Operating and maintaining floor scrubbers


• Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old


• Must demonstrate excellent work habits in line with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)


• Must demonstrate safe working habits


• Must be able to use industrial strength chemicals


• Must be able to understand and demonstrate all Lock Out/Tag Out procedures


• Must be able to lift in excess of 50 pounds frequently


• Must be able to push or pull heavy equipment


• Must have basic mechanical skills


• Must be able to work in a wet and slippery environment


• Must possess general knowledge of machine operation


• Must be able to bend/stoop/squat down, etc.

Year End Bonus

To reward associates for their contributions to the company for the calendar year, Publix provides a Holiday Bonus in November. In the first year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to 15 hours of pay, and in the second year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to one week’s pay if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check. In subsequent years, the bonus is equal to two weeks’ pay.
