Position Summary

The Sanitation Operator is a member of the Operations Team reporting directly to the Sanitation Supervisor. The Sanitation Operator is accountable and responsible for plant sanitation and cleanliness to maintain quality control and protection of product, ensuring departmental safety, environmental controls and development and training of sanitation employees.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment by ensuring proper storage of tools and hoses, maintaining housekeeping standards, wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE), and immediately containing and reporting spills or unsafe conditions.
  • Perform assigned sanitation tasks in accordance with approved procedures, company policies, and food safety standards.
  • Complete and accurately document Master Sanitation Sheets (MSS) following assigned sanitation tasks.
  • Perform daily safety equipment inspections and report any deficiencies.
  • Read, understand, and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), sanitation procedures, and required documentation.
  • Complete all required safety training and comply with company safety policies and regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, management, and other shifts to ensure operational continuity.
  • Respond and communicate with management during emergency situations as needed.
  • Report all accidents, incidents, and near misses to the Superintendent of Operations and Plant Manager.
  • Collaborate with coworkers and management to support continuous improvement initiatives and maintain a team-oriented work environment.
  • Promote a positive and professional atmosphere for employees and visitors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
QualificationsRequired Qualifications
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
Skills and Competencies:
  • Ability to follow company policies, procedures, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-oriented and safety-focused environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
  • Commitment to maintaining sanitation, food safety, and workplace safety standards
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in sanitation, food manufacturing, industrial cleaning, or a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation practices, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  • Experience completing sanitation documentation or production records.
Working Conditions:
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as required by business needs.
  • Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to cleaning chemicals, production equipment, varying temperatures, noise, and required use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
