Job summary

OSI Group in Fort Atkinson, WI is seeking a sanitation supervisor to manage and coordinate food safety and sanitation programs in a food processing plant. You will lead sanitation employees and ensure compliance with GMPs, SSOPs and HACCP policies.

The role requires 5–10 years of sanitation experience, proficiency with MS Office, and strong communication. You will partner with Plant Management and QA, train crew leaders, and uphold USDA standards while pursuing continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • 5-10 years of food production sanitation experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of GMP, SSOP, HACCP and lean manufacturing.
  • Bilingual abilities are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and schedule department work to ensure a clean and sanitary plant.
  • Support safety, food safety, and HACCP initiatives as top priorities.
  • Estimate manpower requirements and select qualified employees.
  • Assign employees and instruct them in proper procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with employee policies and disciplinary actions.
  • Maintain Master Sanitation Schedule, logs, and documentation.
  • Recommend improvements to procedures and standards.
  • Train crew leaders to supervise in absence.
  • Create an environment that promotes creativity and process improvement.
  • Work with Plant Management and QA to meet USDA requirements.
  • Purchase sanitation supplies and manage inventory.
  • Work with USDA to ensure regulations are met.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

This role is responsible for managing and coordinating activities with regards to food safety and sanitation programs in a food processing plant. Responsible for leading sanitation employees and compliance with GMP`s, SSOP`S and HACCP policies.

Job Responsibilities
  • Plan and schedule the departments work utilizing employees, equipment, and materials to ensure a clean and sanitary plant.
  • Support without hesitation General Plant Safety, Food Safety, Food Defense Initiatives and Good Manufacturing Practices with an understanding that these are absolutes and are Priority #1.
  • Estimate manpower requirements and select qualified employees to perform the necessary work.
  • Assign employees to jobs and instruct them in the proper procedures that will ensure quality, safety, and efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with all established employee policies.
  • Initiate discipline measures as required.
  • Prepares and maintains Master Sanitation Schedule, logs and other documentation and distributes information, as needed.
  • Recommend improvements and modifications to the organization, procedures, policies, and standards to improve the system.
  • Train crew leaders to assume supervisory position in the event of absence or promotion.
  • Create an environment without fear that promotes creativity and process improvement.
  • Work closely with Plant Management and QA to ensure that the plant is properly cleaned and that all USDA requirements are met.
  • Purchase sanitation supplies and maintain an inventory of said supplies.
  • Work closely with USDA ensuring that all regulations are met.
  • This role has the responsibility to understand and places in practice appropriate safety procedures. This responsibility is achieved through education, training, use of protective equipment (as applicable) and by following safety policies, regulations, standards, and laws.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Experiences & Skills
  • 5-10 years of food production sanitation experience is preferred.
  • Excellent proficiency in all Microsoft Office Suite Products.
  • Must have excellent communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of good manufacturing practices, hazard analysis and critical control points, lean manufacturing and other food safety, quality and manufacturing principles.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work with employees at all levels and to motivate direct reports; specifically mentoring and coaching individuals and identifying short- and long-term development needs and providing appropriate support.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities at one time using effective organizational skills and judgment in an environment of frequently changing circumstances.
  • Bilingual is a plus
Education
  • BA/BS or equivalent is preferred.
  • Business Management, production operations management, agricultural science, food science is preferred, or equivalent communication and analytical ability and production operations management acquired through work experience.

Offers are typically made between the minimum and midpoint of the range, based on skills, experience, and internal equity. In rare cases, highly qualified candidates may receive an offer above the midpoint; however, offers at the maximum of the range are not customary. Salaries will vary based on various factors, including but not limited to, location, education, skills, experience and performance. Base salary is one component of OSI’s overall total rewards package.   • Work can be performed within a manufacturing plant environment with noise, extreme temperatures, and significant movement of powered equipment, people and conveyor (may depend on the role).
  • Work conditions are typical of a food manufacturing facility.
  • This role does not require any domestic travel
  • Position may require the physical agility of lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Position may require frequent and/or infrequent of bending, squatting, pushing, pulling, stretching/reaching, use hands or fingers, talk, hear, feel objects, tools, controls and standing/walking on concrete flooring.
  • Position may require the physical ability to stand/walk for Greater than 4 hours.
