Job summary

Position Summary

The Sanitation Lead is responsible for leading and overseeing sanitation activities throughout the pistachio processing facility. This position ensures compliance with food safety regulations, GMPs, HACCP requirements, sanitation procedures, and company safety standards while maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary production environment. The Sanitation Lead provides guidance, training, and support to sanitation team members and works closely with other departments to ensure operational excellence.

Essential Functions
  • Lead the development and implementation of sanitation procedures for production areas, equipment, and storage facilities.
  • Supervise, train, and mentor sanitation employees on sanitation and hygiene best practices.
  • Plan, assign, direct, and monitor sanitation work activities.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, HACCP, SQF, GMPs, and company sanitation standards.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify and correct sanitation deficiencies.
  • Oversee cleaning and maintenance of sanitation equipment, chemical dispensers, and cleaning tools.
  • Maintain accurate sanitation records, inspection reports, cleaning schedules, and sanitation logs.
  • Coordinate sanitation activities with production, quality assurance, maintenance, and warehouse departments.
  • Investigate and resolve sanitation-related issues, employee concerns, and operational problems.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to improve sanitation efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Develop and implement emergency response procedures for sanitation-related incidents.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of sanitation leadership or management experience in a food manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Food manufacturing and dry food processing experience preferred.
  • Food safety certifications such as HACCP or ServSafe are preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of HACCP, SQF, GMPs, sanitation procedures, and food safety regulations.
  • Ability to effectively train, motivate, and lead employees.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and related software programs.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information and exercise sound judgment.
  • Food manufacturing and pistachio processing environment.
  • Exposure to cleaning chemicals, dust, dirt, noise, and production hazards.
  • Exposure to varying temperatures, including hot and cold conditions.
  • Indoor and outdoor work may be required.
  • Frequent interaction with production, quality assurance, maintenance, and warehouse personnel.
  • Must comply with all food safety, sanitation, PPE, and company safety requirements.
