Job summary

Tribute Baking Company, a leading producer of New York style bagels and cakes, seeks a sanitation supervisor to lead the sanitation team in our Miami facility. You will oversee safe, compliant cleaning, and ensure documentation of sanitation tasks across shifts in a fast-paced bakery environment.

Responsibilities include coordinating PPE and cleaning supplies, training staff on chemical use, and maintaining GMP and HACCP standards. English fluency is required; Spanish is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Experience leading teams in a food processing or bakery setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of sanitation practices and GMPs is required or preferred.
  • Ability to read and follow written procedures and safety instructions.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods and perform physically demanding tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Direct supervision of leaders and production associates with a focus on safety and documentation.
  • Ensure sanitation tools and PPE are available for the team.
  • Perform random verification of sanitation tasks and PPE usage.
  • Report safety and sanitation issues to supervisor.
  • Oversee sanitation inventories and weekly reporting.
  • Train new health personnel on cleaning tasks and chemical use.
  • Participate in cleaning tasks alongside sanitation staff.
  • Enforce food safety policies, GMPs, and SOPs.
  • Identify opportunities to improve safety, cleanliness, and pest control.
  • Provide guidance on protective clothing and equipment use.

Job description

Tribute Baking Company is the strategic combination of four businesses with rich histories in the baking industry – Always Bagels, Original Bagel, Dutch Maid and Hometown Foods USA – together, creating a market‑leading producer of authentic New York style kettle‑boiled, hearth‑baked bagels and high‑quality cake products sold into the in‑store bakery, club store, foodservice and convenience store channels.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: cleaning equipment on the weekends (shifts may vary), performing sanitation cleaning within a food plant environment, cleaning of office areas, and working a flexible schedule.

Job Responsibilities
  • Must directly supervise the work of leaders and production associates, focusing on safety and accurate documentation of completion of tasks and procedures.
  • Must ensure that sanitation partners have all the manual tools and equipment available to perform sanitation tasks.
  • Must perform random verification activities for the completion of sanitation tasks, which sometimes include coming in different shifts to keep them honest.
  • It must carry out activities of random verification of the use of PPE among sanitation personnel.
  • Must continually inform the sanitation supervisor of any problems or opportunities detected.
  • Must supervise sanitation inventories and personal protection safety weekly.
  • Must prepare and send weekly inventories.
  • Must train new health personnel, including some specific cleaning tasks, tools, and the proper use of chemicals.
  • Must participate in the cleaning tasks side by side like any other sanitation employee.
  • Strictly follow and support the employee safety and food safety policies, good manufacturing practices, work instructions, and standard operating and cleaning procedures.
  • Lead and direct efforts to improve, maintain and validate safety and cleanliness and hygiene practices and pest control procedures.
  • Assists the sanitation supervisor in directing employees in accordance with plant regulations.
  • Provide technical guidance to supervisors and employees on the proper use of protective clothing or accessories. Correct problems immediately if they occur.
  • Carrying out routine tours of the plant, inspecting equipment, and recommending cleaning and/or maintenance needs, improvement, or reduction of costs.
  • Anticipate sanitation needs based on production schedules and coordinate the needs of staff and tasks with the sanitation team based on available cleanup times.
  • Recommend adjustments to itineraries, procedures, and sanitary practices to the cleaning supervisor for review.
  • File and review reports regarding inspections, sanitation violations, and corrective actions.
  • Is responsible for the maintenance and cleaning of sanitation equipment.
  • Help the plant prepare for some important visits and/or inspections.
  • Is responsible for monitoring pest control observations.
  • Works to maintain and improve the quality, legality, and safety of each product and the processes used in its manufacture. It is responsible for keeping the assigned area clean at all times and immediately reports any potential contamination and any suspicious activity to the sanitation supervisor.
  • Any other duty assigned by the supervisor or quality manager.
During The Preoperative Inspection Shift
  • Must ensure that the materials and tools are available and operational before the activities have begun.
  • Must directly supervise the work of leaders and production associates, focusing on safety and accurate documentation of completion of tasks and procedures.
  • Ensures that the production leader has all the tools and hand equipment available and in good condition to complete the sanitation tasks.
  • Must enforce standard sanitation procedures and inspect the areas.
  • Coordinates all verification activities with the quality control technicians.
  • Must inform the sanitation supervisor and the sanitation supervisor in charge of the progress made in each department during the shift.
Food Safety Responsibilities
  • Support BRC by maintaining food safety and food quality through completing job tasks and maintaining the work area in a sanitary manner following prescribed procedures.
  • Report food safety problems to a supervisor or manager.
Safety Responsibilities
  • Support BRC by maintaining food safety and food quality through completing job tasks and maintaining the work area in a sanitary manner following prescribed procedures.
  • Work safely and responsibly at all times, following all safety policies, procedures, and rules.
  • Report unsafe observations or conditions to the sanitation supervisor immediately.
  • Immediately report an injury or accident to the sanitation supervisor.
  • Meet all company requirements for training.
Skills Requirements
  • Well organized and good time management.
  • Having knowledge of HACCP is preferred, but it is not mandatory.
  • Knowledge of BRC standards is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide in all units of measure, and use complete numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to define problems, collect information, establish facts, and draw conclusions. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables concentrated in situations where standardization is limited. Ability to interpret a variety of written instructions, oral, diagrams, or itinerary papers.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word processor, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook email.
  • Demonstrate a high level of communication, cooperation, and teamwork with the production operators to clean and sanitize the plant's equipment. Must treat the production team as customers.
  • Promote the company's culture.
  • Must be proficient in English, must understand, read, write, and speak English. Spanish is preferable.
  • Forklift operator.
  • Diploma or equivalent of high school and/or trade school, science baccalaureate preferable, but not mandatory.
  • 1 year of relevant experience in an automated food processing plant, bakery is preferred but not mandatory.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand for extended periods (8+ hours) on a production floor.
  • Frequent walking, bending, twisting, kneeling, stooping, and reaching.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly.
  • Repetitive use of hands, wrists, and arms for handling product, packaging, and operating equipment.
  • Work in an environment with loud machinery and fast‑moving conveyor belts.
  • Exposure to varying temperatures, including cold storage areas below 40°F and production areas that may exceed 90°F.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced setting with continuous movement.
  • Manufacturing environment with strict adherence to work and safety rules 100% of the time.
  • Must wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) as designated by company policies.
