Job summary

Ventura Foods in Chambersburg, PA is seeking a dedicated sanitation associate to maintain clean processing areas and sanitary equipment in compliance with GMP and FSMA.

You will clean production equipment, tanks, filters, and conveyors, assist with daily sanitation tasks, participate in training, and ensure paperwork is completed on time.

This hourly, onsite role requires high school diploma, at least one year of experience, and the ability to operate a forklift or hand lift as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1 year of sanitation experience preferred.
• Prior sanitation experience in a food manufacturing facility preferred.

Responsibilities

• Clean production equipment, removing parts as needed and reassembling.
• Clean tanks, vats, and filters; change out as required.
• Maintain sanitation across all processing lines.
• Support daily sanitation tasks to maintain production efficiency.
• Operate forklift or hand lift to transport materials.
• Complete paperwork accurately and on time.
• Follow GMP, safety procedures, and FSMA requirements.
• Train new hires and transfers on sanitation procedures.
• Report problems to appropriate personnel.
• Adhere to all food safety policies and HACCP or SQF codes.

Position Summary:

To keep all production and receiving areas clean by cleaning and sanitizing processing equipment, and maintaining the areas in accordance with approved quality and sanitation procedures. To maintain equipment and comply with food safety regulations to provide safe quality product to our customers.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

• Clean lint, dust, oil, and grease from all production equipment, removing parts as needed and putting the equipment back together for all production lines. Also responsible for cleaning overhead pipes, and conveyors.
• Clean all processing tanks and vats, as well as cleaning or changing out filters as required.
• Assist with maintaining daily operational production efficiency and sanitation duties. Assist with maintenance of all sanitation related equipment.
• Clean floor using sanitation chemicals as required, transporting trash and other waste to the disposal area.
• Actively participate in the training of new hires and/or transfers.
• Complete all required paperwork, accurately and timely.
• Comply with all GMP, Safety Procedures, Company Policies, Quality Policies, and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points as they apply to this position.
• Operate forklift or hand lift to transport materials as needed.
• Communicate problems or concerns with appropriate personnel.
• Responsible for following all Food Safety policies, procedures and regulatory criterion including the current SQF code, Good Manufacturing Practices, and the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) and associated Preventive Controls.
• Other duties as required.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent experience
• 1 year of experience
• Prior sanitation experience in a food manufacturing facility preferred

Knowledge and Skills:

• Must possess good reading and math skills to accurately perform the requirements of the job.
• Mechanical aptitude, good hand & eye coordination is required.
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Complete training and have working knowledge of sanitation responsibilities for all production lines.
