The Sanford nursing intern program is a hands-on, 10-week paid internship designed to develop confidence and competence in clinical nursing skills. It provides mentorship by a licensed professional and opportunities across patient care settings to support graduation readiness.

Open to students enrolled in an accredited RN program and enrolled in an approved internship course. After the summer term, there may be a chance to extend into the school year, with potential relocation or scheduling

As a Sanford Student Nursing Intern, you will experience the day-to-day life of a Registered Nurse in a variety of roles and settings. This hands‑on, 10‑week paid internship will expand your clinical skills and knowledge under the guidance of an experienced nurse preceptor.

Following the 10‑week summer program, interns may have the option to extend their internship into the school year. This is a great opportunity to strengthen your skills and serve your community.

Additional requirements:

• Be enrolled in an internship course approved by the state board of nursing (this does not apply to internships held in the states of South Dakota, Iowa and Wisconsin)
• Expected graduation date of Fall / Winter 2027 or Spring / Summer 2028

Utilizes appropriate population‑specific patient care protocols and policies related to the physical and psychological needs of all ages of patients. Embodies the vision and values that are compatible with Sanford Health. The intern functions within the scope and standards of practice as outlined in the state specific regulations.
