Job summary

Barnes Aerospace Ogden Division is seeking a Sandblaster to support manufacturing operations. The right candidate is self-driven, team oriented, and upholds high quality standards while maintaining a safe environment.

Shift is 10pm–7:30am, Sunday–Wednesday, with every other Thursday off, plus a 17% shift differential. Core duties include sandblasting, loading parts, inspecting workmanship, and maintaining cleanliness and safety throughout the work area.

Qualifications

• Must understand and follow company and customer specifications.
• Able to regulate controls on equipment used for sandblasting.
• Operate sandblaster, insulated head gear, shovel, and racks.
• Comfort working in enclosed spaces and wearing a respirator for long periods.
• Must wear respirator for extended periods and maintain safety.
• Communicate professionally with all levels of employees.
• Schedule and organize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong manufacturing background with sandblasting experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manually abrade surfaces to remove scale, grease, tar, rust and dirt using sandblasting equipment.
• Load parts on racks and regulate abrasive mixture flow to match specs.
• Inspect parts to ensure specifications are met.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area to pass safety regulations.
• Assist others in the department as needed.
• Learn and adhere to required safety standards and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Barnes Aerospace, Ogden Division has an exciting career opportunity for a Sandblaster to play an integral role in manufacturing operations. Shift: 10pm-7:30am Sunday-Wednesday (every other Thursday off)

+17% shift differential

Core Responsibilities:

• Manually abrades surfaces of metal or hard composition objects to remove adhering scale, grease, tar, rust, and dirt, and to impart specified finish, while using sandblasting equipment. Sand blaster has a high-pressure nozzle that is equivalent to 60 pounds of weight. This is to ensure uniform look and to meet planning specifications.
• Shovels or pours sand into machine. Also, when finished, shovel or pour sand into appropriate recycling areas to clean area. This is to ensure safety and cleanliness.
• Load parts on racks in enclosed rooms. Turn valves on equipment to regulate pressure and composition of abrasive mixture flowing through nozzle. This is to ensure that the position of the metal is easy to work with and the equipment is at the right setting.
• Visually inspects the part to ensure that all specifications are met.
• Keep area and surrounding area clean and safe to meet and pass safety regulations.
• General assist with others in department.
• Learn and adhere to required safety standards and procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Ability to understand and follow company and customer specifications.

• Ability to operate Sandblaster, insulated head gear, shovel, placement racks.
• Ability to be in enclosed spaces and wear head gear for long periods of time.
• Ability to wear a respirator for prolonged periods of time.
• Interact and communicate in a professional and effective manner with all level's employees.
• Schedule and organize time and tasks effectively.
• Ability to work in a challenging and schedule driven environment.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Ability to plan and perform difficult work processes.
• Strong manufacturing background working with sandblasting materials preferred.

Education Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED required.
