About the Role

As a Sanctions and KYC Manager within Happen Bank’s Financial Crimes Compliance team, you’ll serve as an individual contributor and subject matter resource, owning escalated sanctions alert resolution, blocked property and rejected transaction reporting, and screening and KYC system improvements. You’ll make documented decisions within delegated authority, provide practical guidance to business partners, and strengthen the controls that keep our sanctions and KYC programs effective.

What You'll Do

  • Prepare accurate, timely blocked property and rejected transaction reports and support potential sanctions violation reviews and voluntary self-disclosures
  • Translate regulatory and policy changes into clear procedures, training, and practical guidance that help business partners apply KYC and sanctions requirements consistently
  • Maintain reliable dashboards, scorecards, and capacity models to track volumes, aging, quality, and emerging risks, and recommend actions to address gaps
  • Partner with Quality Assurance, Compliance Testing, and business teams to identify control weaknesses, complete corrective actions, and provide documented evidence for audits and regulatory examinations
  • Drive assigned screening and KYC system improvements with technology, data, and operations partners, including requirements, data validation, user acceptance testing, and implementation checks
  • When required, support customer due diligence, enhanced due diligence, beneficial ownership, customer risk rating, and periodic review work, including quality review and escalated complex cases, ensuring timely and well-supported outcomes
  • Improve team workflows through standardization, informal peer coaching, and appropriate use of approved AI tools, protecting sensitive information and validating outputs
About You
  • 4+ years of relevant financial crimes compliance experience with regulated financial institutions, including sanctions and preferably KYC
  • Strong working knowledge of BSA/AML, OFAC sanctions, and KYC requirements, with the ability to translate complex obligations into practical decisions and controls
  • Hands‑on experience with customer identification, customer due diligence, enhanced due diligence, beneficial ownership, customer risk rating methodologies, and periodic reviews
  • Experience investigating sanctions screening alerts, assessing ownership under OFAC’s 50 Percent Rule, evaluating payment activity, and preparing blocked property and rejected transaction reports
  • Experience reading and interpreting payment transactions, including wire and ACH activity, to identify originators, beneficiaries, intermediaries, and other parties and payment details relevant to a sanctions determination
  • Ability to independently deliver defined workstreams, prioritize competing deadlines, and recognize when a decision requires escalation
  • Strong analytical skills, with experience validating data, interpreting performance metrics, and using findings to improve quality and efficiency
  • Clear writing and communication skills, with the confidence to challenge constructively, explain decisions, coach peers, and incorporate feedback
  • Hands‑on experience using AI tools to improve efficiency and accelerate your work and improve output quality. You are equally comfortable using them and helping colleagues apply them responsibly, with sound judgment about confidentiality, accuracy, limitations, and human review
  • Bachelor's degree or higher, or equivalent combination of education and work experience
Nice to Have
  • CAMS, CGSS, or a comparable financial crimes or sanctions certification
  • Experience with sanctions screening platforms (Bridger preferred) and KYC workflow tools
  • Experience supporting sanctions voluntary self-disclosures, regulatory examinations, or remediation projects
