The role includes hands-on work with composite materials, prep, lay-up and bonding of composites, and interaction with multiple departments. Applicants must be enrolled in a related program and able to work full time for 10 weeks.

Qualifications

  • Be a student enrolled in a community college or technical trade school or working toward a manufacturing certification or related coursework.
  • Be available to work full time for at least 10 weeks.
  • Ability to work with hand tools requiring fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
  • Able to read, interpret and record measurements.
  • Available to work 1st Shift (5:00AM - 2:30PM).
  • US Citizen.

Responsibilities

  • Perform functions related to manufacturing operations, including handling and processing composite materials.
  • Report status/progress and coordinate with other staff.
  • Prepare tooling and manage release applications.
  • Use calipers, rulers and tape measures for fabricating hardware.
  • Help maintain shop cleanliness and organization.

Northrop Grumman is seeking Manufacturing Technician Interns for a 10 Week Fall Internship opportunity on 1st Shift. This position will be located at our Space sector facility on-site in San Diego, CA and will be 1st Shift (5:00 AM - 2:30 PM).

The qualified candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman’s Manufacturing Technician Team for a 10 week internship, and be converted to a full-time employee in the future, dependent on performance, timing, and budget.

Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Perform functions associated with all manufacturing operations, including handling and managing fragile composite materials. Prep, lay-up and bonding of composite products; uni-directional and weave pre-pregs
  • May report status/progress and interface with other employees and departments.
  • Tooling preparation and release application.
  • Utilize measurement tools such as calipers, rulers, and tape measures for fabricating hardware.
  • Assist in maintaining overall shop appearance and cleanliness.
  • Execute to written instructions
Basic Qualifications:
  • Be a student enrolled in a community college or technical trade school, or be working toward a manufacturing certification or related coursework
  • Be available to work full time for at least 10 weeks
  • Ability to work with hand tools, often requiring fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination
  • Able to read, interpret and record measurements

Intern Pay Rate:

$23.00

At Northrop Grumman, our internship pay rates are standardized and take into account three main factors: the anticipated graduation date of the individual, the cost of labor of the geographic location, and whether the internship is considered technical or administrative.

Primary Level Salary Range: $47,840.00 - $47,840.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
