Job summary

ALS is seeking a Sample Preparation Technician (P2) to work with client samples and prepare them for analysis in our labs. The role involves ringing, sieving, crushing, and splitting under supervision, plus operating ovens and maintaining logs.

The successful candidate will be able to work independently or with a team, lift and handle materials, and follow strict safety policies. Training and growth opportunities are provided within a diverse lab environment.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Ringing, sieving, crushing, and splitting under supervision.
• Loading and unloading drying ovens under supervision.
• Maintain production logs.
• General cleaning to keep the lab clean.
• Assist with layout duties/tasks.
• Handle compositing, screen metallics, and special requests.
• Inspect equipment and report adjustments.
• Observe safety regulations and ALS policies.
• Other duties as assigned.

About the role

Within the Sample Preparation Department, the Sample Preparation Technician (P2) will work with client samples and prepare them for analysis in our labs.

Responsibilities

• Ringing , sieving (including International Soils), crushing, splitting under direct supervision
• L o ading and unload ing drying ovens under supervision
• Maintain own production logs;
• General cleaning duties for basic lab cleanliness;
• May assists with layout duties/tasks
• Handling compositing, screen metallics, special handling requests, etc.;
• Inspecting equipment and inform senior employee if adjustment is required;
• analytical quality
• Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures
• Other duties as assigned.

• Basic alpha/numeric comprehension
• Basic English communication skills (written and verbal).

Required Qualifications

• Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time
• Ability to work in a hot and dusty environment

• Ability to lift up to 50lbs; sometimes continuously (occasionally lifting may exceed 50lbs and assistance is mandatory from either another employee or the lift assist equipment)
• Ability to sit at a desk and do general office work, which includes periodic sedentary responsibilities
• Be cleanly-shaven in order to wear protective equipment.
