Job summary

El Rio Health is seeking a Medical Assistant – SDC to join its Same Day Clinic team in Tucson. The role provides direct patient care and supports clinical and non-clinical services within the MA scope of practice.

The position involves completing patient intake steps, coordinating records and lab results, and ensuring accurate documentation in the EHR. Strong emphasis on patient confidentiality, safety, and adherence to nursing policies is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Medical Assistant Certificate from an accredited program.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Level I fingerprint clearance card is required or applied for within seven working days.
• Reliable transportation may be required for operational reassignment.

Responsibilities

• Performs direct patient care and supports clinical and non-clinical services within MA scope.
• Completes all steps in the Patient Intake Process prior to seeing a provider.
• Assists with procedures and coordinates with nursing policies and procedures.
• Coordinates outside medical records, lab and radiology results.
• Completes provider orders and ensures discharge instructions are understood by patients.
• Documents actions in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) within defined time frames.
• Maintains appropriate documentation in El Rio Health IT systems and patient portal.
• Maintains patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA and code of conduct standards.
• Ensures a safe, clean work environment and participates in safety programs.
