Job summary

KPMG LLP in Los Angeles seeks an Associate to join our State and Local Tax (SALT) practice. You will assist multi-state companies with state and local tax issues, including income tax compliance and related research, and help clients with SALT matters.

Responsibilities include preparing and/or reviewing state income and franchise tax returns, extensions and estimated payments, handling notices from state tax authorities, and researching and drafting technical memoranda on SALT issues.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year of tax research experience and preparing state income tax returns.
• Master's degree or JD/LLM, or bachelor's with hours for CPA requirement.
• Strong writing, compliance, communication, and tax research skills.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist multi-state companies with state and local tax issues including income tax compliance and related research.
• Help clients with tax issues related to state and local income and franchise taxes.
• Prepare and/or review state income and franchise tax estimated payments, extensions and tax returns.
• Assist in handling notices received from state tax authorities.
• Research and draft technical memoranda related to state and local tax issues.
